💡 WHAT THIS ROLE ACTUALLY IS


We're looking for someone to own newsletter subscriber growth end to end. Today we spend thousands a day on paid social to acquire subscribers, with room to scale fast when the numbers work, plus a budget behind our referral programs. Right now that spend gets approved without enough analytics to know what's truly driving growth.


You'll change that. You'll run the ads, manage the referral engine, test new ways to bring subscribers in, and put real math behind every dollar. Scale what works. Kill what doesn't.


🎯 WHAT YOU'LL DO


• Run and scale our paid social acquisition (Meta, Instagram, and beyond), from creative briefs to targeting to daily optimization.

• Manage the daily ad budget and grow it as you prove profitable subscriber acquisition.

• Own and optimize the referral programs across both newsletters: incentives, mechanics, and the spend behind them.

• Invent new growth plays. Lead magnets, partnerships, cross-promos, viral loops, landing-page tests, whatever moves the subscriber number.

• Build the CAC, LTV, and payback math by channel, and stand up clean attribution with UTMs, pixels, and a simple dashboard.

• Report weekly on what's growing the list and what's wasting money, and cut the losers fast.

• Defend the open rate as the list grows. Subscribers only count if they're real and engaged.

• Coordinate with editorial so growth and content pull in the same direction.


✅ WHAT YOU BRING


• 5-plus years growing a newsletter, subscription, or DTC product through paid social.

• Hands-on Meta ads experience with real attribution, not vanity metrics.

• A track record of managing and scaling an ad budget profitably.

• Referral or viral-growth program experience.

• Strong analytics. You can build a CAC and LTV model from scratch and live in the dashboard.

• A scrappy, test-everything mindset. You bring new growth ideas, not just execution.

• Kill-threshold discipline. You don't get emotional about pausing what doesn't perform.

First 30 days

• CAC and LTV model built and reviewed with Kim.

• Attribution live: UTMs, pixels, dashboard.

• Current paid social audited, with a test plan approved.


First 90 days

• Paid social scaling profitably against a clear CAC target.

• Referral programs reworked and producing measurable new subscribers.

• At least 2 new growth tactics tested, with winners identified.


First 180 days

• Subscriber growth on a clear upward trajectory across both newsletters.

• Open rate held steady despite the growth.

• A repeatable, documented growth engine the team can trust.
