Salary Range
$65,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience (salary inclusive of night time performances, dress rehearsals, and other related events required)

Job Goal
The Collaborative Choral Pianist fosters a love of music and performance that encourages a growth mindset that establishes a lifelong relationship with the arts. The Collaborative Choral Pianist supports the Choral Director in effective rehearsal strategies and creates a warm and supportive learning environment where all students can meet their full potential within our choral program.

Qualifications

Advanced Piano Proficiency

Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field

Professional Certification: MA DESE license in MUSIC (PreK-12) preferred, but not required

Specialized Knowledge: child development, sightreading, open choral score reading, age-appropriate choral repertoire knowledge, ensemble rehearsal techniques, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, classroom management, social-emotional learning, technology integration

CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.

Preferred Experience

Accompanying large group choral ensembles

Leading choral rehearsals and sectionals

Working with school-aged children ages 9 - 18

Skills

Create a welcoming, supportive, and equitable learning environment

Ability to lead small group sectionals

Ability to play complex choral accompaniments and score reductions

Partner and collaborate with choral directors, department colleagues, and other staff

Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues, and parents

Demonstrate a belief in a growth mindset for students as well as for self

Central Functions of the Job (May include but are not limited to)

Provides support and assistance to the High School and Mill Pond Choral programs through choral accompanying and co-teaching.

Leads sectionals and choral rehearsals in the absence of the choral director.

Lead sectional rehearsals during the school day when needed.

Assists with classroom management and attendance during large group instruction.

Attends one faculty and one department meeting per month to collaborate and plan with colleagues.

Participates in dress rehearsals, evening concerts, and special performances.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Collaborative Choral Pianist and Teaching Assistant does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Salary and Benefits
Salary, benefits, and responsibilities per individual contract between the Collaborative Choral Pianist and the Superintendent of Schools.
