Marketing Graphic Design Intern
The Marketing and Graphic Design Intern will help produce visual content and marketing materials that promote ASBMB programs, events, publications, membership, and advocacy initiatives. This role is ideal for a developing designer interested in gaining real-world experience in a professional communications environment. Full-time or part-time options are available (20-35 hours per week).
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Graphic Design and Visual Assets (45%)
Create graphics for social media, email newsletters, web banners, flyers, infographics, and event promotion
Adapt existing ASBMB templates and brand assets for consistent multi-platform use
Prepare assets for print and digital distribution
Marketing Support and Content Production (45%)
Assist in planning and producing visual content for marketing campaigns
Support updates to web content and assist with social media scheduling
Help track and organize artwork, files, and deliverables
Multimedia & Light Video Support (10%)
Edit short social videos or motion graphics
Support basic photo editing and layout needs
Assist with content capture for virtual or in-person events
Other Tasks
Assist with brand library organization and creation of reusable templates
Support special projects and ASBMB event design needs
Completes other relevant duties or projects assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in graphic design, marketing, visual communication, digital media, or a related field
Portfolio demonstrating design skills
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and/or Figma/Canva
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to take direction and iterate based on feedback
Ability to work in hybrid environment with scheduled time in the Rockville, MD office
Ability to provide occasional support for events or deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating social media graphics and email assets
Familiarity with basic accessibility and design best practices
Experience with simple video editing (Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar)
Comfort using Microsoft 365 and project management tools
