Pelago is hiring a Creative Director, Growth to own the full creative arc of our member acquisition funnel – from campaign concept through shipped execution. This is a true player‑coach role where design is your primary craft and campaign concepting elevates it into strategy.
In this role you will…
Set the creative direction
- Own the campaign concepting process end‑to‑end, from identifying insights to translating them into a coherent campaign across email, direct mail, SMS, and the landing page.
- Evolve Pelago’s growth creative voice: visual language, messaging principles, and channel‑specific standards that make our acquisition surface coherent and differentiated.
- Develop testable creative hypotheses that drive measurable conversion improvements.
Execute the work
- Own the messaging platform for every campaign: insight, angle, hierarchy of claims across channels, and support copy execution.
- Design emails, landing page modules, direct mail layouts, and campaign visuals yourself; the expectation is craft, not direction.
- Work hands‑on with AI tools for copy ideation, design iteration, and A/B variant production.
Run creative experimentation
- Collaborate with Growth PM, Ops, and Engineer to launch experiments based on defensible hypotheses.
- Treat flat conversion rates as opportunities for hypothesis generation and iterative testing.
Lead across the organization
- Translate business goals and funnel data into creative strategy understandable by non‑creative stakeholders.
- Partner with Growth Marketing, Client Marketing, Content, and Product to align creative with strategy and performance data.
- Build scalable creative infrastructure: messaging frameworks, copy templates, visual component libraries.
- Manage agency and freelancer relationships, project priorities, and creative budgets to maintain throughput.
- Elevate the creative capability of the team, starting with the Senior Content Manager and extending to the entire organization.
The background we are looking for
- 6+ years of creative experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or director role setting creative direction.
- Experience managing or directing a creative or content function, preferably with direct reports.
- Strong hands‑on design execution across email, landing pages, direct mail, and digital campaigns.
- A portfolio that demonstrates strategic campaign thinking and high‑quality execution.
- Data‑driven creative instincts, including measuring performance and optimizing for conversion.
- Proficiency in AI tools within a creative workflow.
- Experience in B2C, B2B2C, health tech, benefits, or subscription environments preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting and defending strategy to non‑creative stakeholders.
Base Pay Range – $180,000 to $190,000 USD
