OVERVIEW
The Digital / Social Media Strategist / Coordinator is responsible for planning, executing, and measuring digital and social media campaigns that increase awareness, drive engagement, and promote a federal client's research initiatives and programs to define target audiences. The role develops social media strategy and content calendars, manages email marketing and newsletter distribution, and uses analytics to continuously refine outreach for maximum reach and impact across multiple channels.

To be successful in this role at Hendall, you should combine strategic communications thinking with hands‑on coordination and content skills, a strong grasp of platform best practices, and the analytical discipline to translate performance data into improved results. The role works under the direction of the Creative and Content Strategy Manager/Director.

DUTIES

Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies, campaigns, and content calendars across all the client's social media channels

Create and schedule social media content, including copy, graphics, and video/multimedia, and develop social media toolkits

Develop strategic promotional plans, identify and engage relevant stakeholders, and manage both digital and traditional marketing channels

Manage periodic e‑newsletters and maintain mailing lists using the client's email marketing platform (e.g., GovDelivery or similar); design templates, populate and send emails, and manage subscriptions

Track, analyze, and report on campaign and channel performance, adjusting tactics as needed to maximize engagement and impact

Deliver recurring, product‑specific social media content calendars and additional promotional content as directed

Conduct market research and audience analysis, including reader and stakeholder surveys, to inform messaging and outreach recommendations

Use social listening tools to monitor conversations across the client's social media channels, measure sentiment, and identify emerging trends

Develop and advise on messaging, strategies, tactics, and audience‑engagement methods; provide creative insights, industry trends, and best practices

Create and maintain a stakeholder engagement plan, gather and analyze stakeholder data to guide strategy and strengthen brand positioning

Support planning and execution of training, webinars, and outreach events that promote the client's products and programs

Ensure all digital content adheres to accessibility (Section 508), branding, and style requirements

Coordinate content review and approvals with designated client contacts and stakeholders

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital media, public relations, or a related field

4+ years of experience managing social media and digital marketing campaigns, preferably in an institutional, government, or research setting

Demonstrated experience developing content calendars, social toolkits, and multichannel campaigns

Hands‑on experience with email marketing/mass‑communication platforms (e.g., GovDelivery, Granicus, Mailchimp, or similar)

Proficiency with social listening, social media management and analytics tools, and the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations

Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tones for different platforms and audiences

Working knowledge of accessibility (Section 508) and brand‑compliance requirements for digital content

Experience conducting market research, surveys, or audience analysis

Experience using AI‑powered social media tools for content creation and analytics

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent campaigns to deadlines

Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace; basic graphic‑editing skills a plus

Salary Range: $85,000 to $95,000 per year
