SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE (Basic Purpose Of The Job)
The Senior Director, Franchise Brand Strategy & Operations is responsible for leading the Exelixis strategic brand planning process, conducting regular health of business assessments, ensuring strategic alignment within marketing and cross-functionally, leading franchise wide strategic initiatives, leading marketing communications and onboarding, overseeing brand financial management and leading the Marketing Operations function.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Lead the annual 3-year strategic Brand Planning process in collaboration with tumor teams, developing the commercial perspective and strategy for Exelixis products across new and existing indications while incorporating macro trends and competitor insights
Facilitate the Quarterly Business Review process with Commercial Strategy, Analytics, & Operations and Sales Leadership team, helping identify and prioritize opportunities and ensuring clear post-meeting pull-through
Drive the tactical planning process across all marketing functions; identify opportunities to streamline the process as well as incorporate insights and metrics into tactical planning process
Develop franchise‑level KPI dashboards and performance trackers in partnership with Strategy, Analytics, and Digital teams to enhance visibility into marketing performance and support data‑driven decision‑making.
Lead cross-functional brand team meetings and other franchise wide forums to ensure alignment, communication, and coordinated execution
Oversee brand financial management in collaboration with Finance, Marketing Leadership, and Tumor Teams, optimizing budget planning, quarterly forecasts, and monthly reconciliations, in coordination with tactical planning process
Develop and manage marketing team annual calendar and communication plan in collaboration with marketing leadership team
Provide operational leadership for Marketing’s digital knowledge and insights infrastructure, including AI Insights Hubs, Veeva Vault PromoMats, MS Teams workspaces, and SharePoint repositories by defining governance models, optimizing folder and channel architecture, and driving best practice adoption across the Marketing organization.
Oversee Marketing Operations, providing leadership across printing and fulfillment, contract routing, purchase order creation, and vendor invoicing through direct management of the team member responsible for these workflows.
Guide congress operations, directing the planning, coordination, and execution of marketing‑and field‑led conferences through management of the team member who partners closely with Area Operations Directors and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Drive operational excellence by establishing standards, streamlining processes, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across financial, vendor, and conference‑related workflows.
Develop and coach a high‑performing operations team, setting priorities, providing guidance, and fostering strong execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all operational workstreams.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employee Directly supervises employees across Brand Strategy and Marketing Operations, providing day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, and performance management.
Sets clear priorities, expectations, and KPIs for direct reports, ensuring strong execution of strategic brand planning, operational processes, and cross‑functional initiatives.
Education
BS/BA degree in related discipline and 18 years of related experience; or,
MS/MBA degree in related discipline and 16 years of related experience; or,
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Master’s degree in related discipline and 13 years of related experience; or
BS/BA degree in related discipline and 15 years of related experience; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience leading short- and long-range brand planning
Oncology experience required
Previous experience in Sales, Market Access, and Marketing preferred

Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

This position requires 25 – 40% of travel time.
