Job Summary

The Director of Music at All Souls Catholic Church is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing music for liturgical celebrations to enhance the prayerful and worship experience of the parish community. This position leads the parish music program in alignment with Catholic liturgical norms and collaborates closely with clergy, staff, and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities

Plan and provide music for weekend Masses, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, and special liturgies
Select appropriate liturgical music in accordance with the Church calendar and guidelines
Direct and accompany choirs, cantors, and musicians during rehearsals and liturgical celebrations
Recruit, train, and support volunteer musicians and choir members
Schedule and lead regular rehearsals for choirs and music groups
Maintain and manage music library, instruments, and related equipment
Collaborate with the Pastor and liturgy staff in planning parish worship
Ensure proper care and maintenance of musical instruments and sound equipment
Coordinate special music programs, concerts, or seasonal liturgical events as appropriate
Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Music, Liturgy, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
Proficiency in piano and/or organ; choral directing experience required
Strong knowledge of Catholic liturgy, hymnody, and liturgical music traditions
Previous experience in parish or church music ministry preferred
Ability to lead and work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to recruit and develop volunteer musicians
Must pass diocesan background check and complete Safe Environment (VIRTUS) training
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and liturgical holidays
