Job Summary
The Business Developer (BD) works to improve BrightView’s market position and achieve profitable financial growth. This role helps bring long-term organizational strategic goals to fruition by building key customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating, and closing deals while maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions. The BD manages the full sales cycle for landscape and, where applicable, snow services, collaborating with operations, finance, marketing, and other partners to respond to bids and meet sales targets.
Duties And Responsibilities
Work with prospective customers to discover their points of pain and develop solutions.
Accurately forecast sales deliverables and KPIs.
Achieve sales goals and work independently.
Perform sales prospecting using consultative techniques to build long‑standing relationships, market, and set pricing.
Conduct heavy phone prospecting, sales presentations, virtual demonstrations, and handle contract negotiations with minimal supervision.
Identify customer needs and use solution‑based selling to demonstrate the value of BrightView services.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospects and existing clients.
Build and maintain trust‑based professional relationships with key decision makers.
Plan daily activity, hit benchmarks, and close business.
Log activity consistently in Salesforce.
Operate in a fast‑paced environment with a high sense of urgency.
Communicate proactively with all decision makers and influencers.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
3–5 years of mid‑to‑senior level B2B selling experience.
Experience managing multiple projects and multitasking in a large territory.
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Experience with a CRM or SFA tool.
Proven track record of sales goal attainment and pipeline management.
Highly competitive, positive, and results‑driven.
Excellent presentation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for client‑centric and value‑based proposals.
Experience with social media.
Local knowledge and contacts in one or more market segments preferred.
Ability to be self‑motivated and self‑directed.
Service‑industry experience with commercial contract sales desirable.
Physical Demands/Requirements
Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment such as laptop, cell phone, and sales programs/tools.
Combination of mobile and sedentary work; must remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Spends more than half of the time working away from BrightView’s offices selling and obtaining orders or contracts.
Ability to travel by car, train, and plane.
Must traverse uneven grounds and walk on job sites with clients and branch teams for up to 4 hours.
Work Environment
Works both indoors and outdoors.
Field‑based position, combination of office and customer facing.
