Digital News Producer

Overview

The Digital Producer leads the transition from broadcast focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms. They provide training in methods, processes, and tactics, and create/edit original content beyond that produced for on-air.
Responsibilities

Provide training in methods, processes, and tactics for daily operations.
Create and edit original content beyond on-air production.
Develop and lead winning strategy for station content.
Expertly manage Facebook, X, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
Review copy and correct errors in content, grammar, punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines.
Use social media and website to build and reinforce brand recognition.
Determine a story's emphasis, length, and format, and organize material accordingly.
Research and analyze background information related to news stories to provide complete and accurate information.
Gather information about events through research, interviews, experience, or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social, or other functions.
Pitch on-brand local and trending stories during morning meetings.
Check reference materials such as books, news files, or public records to obtain relevant facts.
Ensure that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Write stories for the web and other digital platforms.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Find new ways to use social media and website to engage with viewers.
Qualifications

Degree in journalism.
Daily newspaper or news site experience required.
Live, working web samples and/or print pages preferred.
Proficiency in Associated Press style, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and basic HTML.
CSS, Flash, and other relevant technology skills is a plus.
Ability to maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments.
Positive response to feedback.
Compensation

$20+ per hour depending on experience and skills set.
