About The Team
The Communications Manager will tell the Turo story on a day‑to‑day basis in the US and highlight how Turo is reinventing car rental to unlock independence for all. We’re looking for a Communications Manager who is responsible for working directly with traditional and new media, liaising with agency partners, managing media inquiries, gathering stories from within our guest and host community, creating and executing integrated comms plans, and tracking Turo and relevant competitors in the news.
What you will do
Provide support for US communications priorities – creating integrated communications plans, leading seasonal press outreach, owning PR and social tracking, and drafting campaign key messages.
Establish and strengthen relationships with key traditional and new media reporters and influencers across the U.S.
Manage reactive press requests and use available tools like data and industry research to create stories that build positive sentiment around Turo’s community and brand.
Proactively find newsworthy stories in our host & guest community and engage with our community on media opportunities.
Surface relevant trends and propose creative campaigns that insert Turo into the cultural conversation and drive ROI across PR and Social.
Your profile
Exceptional communication & organizational skills.
Ability to function well in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment.
Exceptional at media relations with a strong roster of traditional and new media contacts and the ability to identify what makes for a compelling story.
Ability to plan and execute a proactive press project such as a data‑driven pitch or campaign (e.g. trend report, press trip, partnership).
Calm and effective in crisis situations, with the ability to adapt plans quickly.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Meltwater, Cision, or related software.
Five+ years of agency or in‑house experience handling PR and social media/influencer relations. Previous experience in the auto, marketplace, or travel industry preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related work experience.
Salary
For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $110,000–$137,000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits.
In‑office policy
Turo highly values having employees working in‑office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in‑office on a hybrid schedule – employees will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
