Role Overview
Proactively builds and manages an assigned portfolio of mass affluent clients across multiple branch locations. Acts as the primary client contact to uncover financial needs and provide meaningful solutions in compliance with regulatory policies. Works collaboratively within the market, BMO partners, and the community to build relationships and deliver the desired customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with mass affluent clients, acting as their trusted advisor and primary contact.
Identify client needs, provide tailored solutions, and uncover additional sales opportunities.
Recommend products, pricing, and services; coordinate with business partner experts on key financial decisions.
Achieve sales targets by acquiring new assets from the existing portfolio and through new client acquisition.
Create and execute calling plans with branch business partners to target qualifying customers.
Review credit applications to ensure sound credit granting principles and recommend remedies as needed.
Conduct quality customer review meetings for retention and relationship expansion.
Participate in community outreach to build referral relationships (e.g., law and accounting firms).
Mentor and coach branch personnel through individual and group training.
Educate clients on digital banking options and guide use of self‑serve technologies.
Liaise with internal departments to provide product support, diagnose problems, and resolve issues within rules.
Follow security, safeguarding, and due‑diligence procedures to prevent fraud, robbery, counterfeiting, money laundering, or defalcation.
Maintain confidentiality of customer and bank information in line with policies.
Identify and resolve operational risks, including monitoring exception reports and documenting compliance.
Support strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders, delivering timely and accurate service.
Exercise risk‑managed judgments and apply the Risk Management Framework in day‑to‑day decisions.
Licenses & Regulatory Requirements
SIE Exam, Series6,63,65, state Life and Health insurance licenses required. Series7,66 or 65 licenses preferred; if not held, required within 120 days of the start date. U.S. only: Must act as an originator of consumer loans defined by RegulationZ, RegulationG, and the SAFE Act, and hold a federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. Criminal background review and credit history evaluation required, with restrictions on performing in a real‑estate agent capacity.
Qualifications
Typically 4‑6 years of relevant experience in financial services; post‑secondary degree preferred but not required.
Proven knowledge of banking products, pricing strategies, and profitability management.
Advanced understanding of deposit, loan (including mortgage), cash‑flow analysis, and credit risk policies.
Excellent knowledge of brokerage and insurance products.
Strong understanding of business services (retirement plans, business banking solutions, insurance, succession planning) and personal trust & investment management.
In‑depth knowledge of client portfolio management.
Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, analytical, problem‑solving, influence, and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $57,500.00 – $106,500.00 (annual), pay type Salaried with potential commission structure.
Performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other rewards may apply.
