JOB DESCRIPTION
From determining key decision makers at agencies and clients in assigned territory, to putting together action plans and presentations resulting in the purchase of media commitment, we are looking for an Account Executive to join our Advertising Sales team at the Big Ten Network (BTN) in Chicago. As our Account Executive, you must understand the sales process – from prospecting to qualifying leads to developing action plans and presenting materials in large groups resulting in the purchase of media. BTN inventory includes television commercials as well as digital and social media inventory. You must be proficient in both mediums, sell across platforms, and understand the planning, buying and selling process of Digital and Traditional Media. You will play an integral role at the BTN.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Sets up and makes face‑to‑face calls at agencies and clients in order to present and close agreements - requires overnight out of state travel

Determines the plan of action for each client by matching BTN’s programming with TV and Digital Media sales opportunities and client objectives

Maintains strong relationships with clients and agencies through one‑on‑one meetings and client entertainment function - Entertainment commitments can include evenings and weekends

Utilizes strong negotiating skills and an understanding of the dynamics of digital and traditional media to obtain the highest possible price for BTN inventory

Works with the Sales Planner to track accounts, minimize issues, and develop recaps and other post‑sale merchandise materials

Develops and maintains expertise on sports, industry trends, and BTN’s programming to deliver the highest price for inventory to BTN and value back to the client

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree

A minimum of five (5) years sales experience at a media company or network selling digital and TV inventory

Comprehensive understanding of integrated platforms and how digital media and television are planned, bought and delivered

A strong overall knowledge of the media industry also required

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are necessary, including the ability to make effective presentations both on‑on‑on and in group settings

Experience with Wide Orbit is preferred

Competency in media math is necessary

Superior negotiating and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong business relations are required

Great organizational and project management skills are necessary

The ability to multitask and work effectively in a high‑pressure environment is also required

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $102,000.00-136,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
