Position: Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician)
Position Overview
As a Broadband Specialist I you will be primarily focused on new installations of cable television and broadband services. You’ll operate a company van, visit customer homes, and represent Mediacom to our customers. Your daily duties will include installation, changes of service, outlet installation, disconnection of service, payment collection, and special installation requests.

Position Responsibilities
Complete customer drop installations from tap to antenna terminals in single and multi‑unit dwellings
Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non‑pay disconnects; add outlets; install and/or remove converters; upgrade or downgrade service
Analyze picture quality and judge acceptance of delivered picture after installation
Use hand tools, connectors, fasteners, and wire to perform cable work
Read signal levels with field strength meter and resolve installation problems
Climb poles, ladders, or other structures using proper safety equipment
Lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs; work in tight or crawl spaces
Use and maintain VOM or DMM for testing voltage
Read drop system layouts from blueprints
Inform customers of FCC rules and company policies
Drive company vehicles and maintain them; use bucket truck as needed
Generate additional revenue through effective sales techniques and upselling of products
Assist with cleanup, salvage of materials, and general support as directed
Ensure all work meets applicable codes, guidelines, company procedures, and safety practices
Position Requirements
No experience required
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
Basic mechanical and consumer device knowledge
Good customer and coworker communication skills
Ability to work in high or tight spaces
Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights
Flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
Frequent handling of heavy objects (approximately 50–100 lbs) and heavy hand tools

Salary Range : $14.25 – $15.25 per hour. Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, education, and certifications.
