Sr. Writer, Development Communications – Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.

Overview
Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins by cultivating enduring relationships that lead to advocacy and philanthropic support. The Office of Development Communications seeks to communicate philanthropy’s impact and articulate fundraising priorities as part of a comprehensive campaign launching in fall 2025.

Work Arrangement
This role is remote with an onsite presence of three days per week under a flexible four‑modal model.

Responsibilities

Develop language and produce materials (case statements, concept pieces, one‑pagers, etc.) to support overarching campaign priorities.

Provide writing and editing assistance and consulting to University and Medicine divisions on their campaign priorities.

Serve as a liaison between central DAR and University and Medicine divisions.

Create original content for various channels and modalities, including researching, writing, revising, and obtaining required approvals.

Interview donors, alumni, university leaders, faculty, grateful patients, and students as needed.

Project manage, including liaising with external vendors (photographers, designers, and others).

Assist with written remarks (scripting) for campaign events.

Assist with media relations for major gift and campaign announcements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

Three years of related experience. Writing samples may be requested during the selection process.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of related experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Familiarity with higher education and academic medicine.

Experience managing internal clients and external vendors.
