This position is for the Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) program, one of Lockheed Martin’s best‑in‑class Lines of Business that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability.

Role
We are looking for a dependable project engineer to join our tight‑knit group as a Proposal Lead in the Structures IPT. In this role you will represent the Structures IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership and suppliers, leading a portion of a multi‑billion dollar proposal that spans the maturation of the structures design from PDR to CDR. You will shape the prime Request for Proposal and then lead the team in BOEs (Basis of Estimate), Supplier RFPs and technical volumes. As proposal lead you will be the primary representative for the Structures IPT in all proposal efforts and will utilize the Structure Team’s expertise to shape the proposal response.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the proposal interface to FBM management and our Navy counterparts

Lead a team in the development of a high‑profile proposal

Contribute to new business trade studies

Enhance cross‑discipline product development

Participate in mentorship opportunities and professional development

Basic Qualifications

Experience in proposal response, including generating BOEs, Supplier SOWs and ROMs

Experience in team leadership

Exposure to the Engineering design lifecycle SRR, PDR, CDR – prior experience working on the design of Hardware or Software either commercially or for a defense program

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative

Desired Skills

Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience

Familiarity with Cost Model / Long‑Range Planning

Experience in Government RFP response

Engineering background or experience leading an engineering team as a project lead or CAM

Experience in areas of cost analysis, schedule, and risk & opportunity management

Understanding of material identification (amount of material we need to procure, generate Bill of Material)

Experience and desire to brief senior LM and Government leaders

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative

3+ years of related experience in proposal response or related program management

Security Clearance
This position requires a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US Top Secret clearance, and successfully pass a drug and background check.

Compensation & Benefits
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington DC is $85,500 – $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
