Assistant Station ManagerThis position is responsible for assisting the station manager in the overall direction and coordination of a vehicle emissions testing station, in accordance with company objectives, policies, procedures and applicable laws.Assist the station manager in the overall operation of the testing facility in accordance with established policies and procedures, while promoting exceptional customer service. This includes:Manage and coordinate the operation of the station in the absence of the station managerAssisting with station voucher activity and ensuring that all funds are accounted for and properly reconciledPerforming emissions testing during busy times to help mitigate wait timesMaintaining testing equipment and reporting problems to technical support as neededEnsure that all customer complaints and damage claims are documented, and appropriately resolved in the absence of the station managerEnsuring station complies with all safety requirements in accordance with the company's Incident and Accident Reporting Procedures. If incidents occur, promptly investigate and submit required incident reporting paperwork.Coordinating general facility maintenance such as cleaning, snow shoveling, and other basic janitorial tasksProvide assistance with the management of the station remitter program and ensure that all funds are accounted for and properly reconciled which includes:Receive and properly secure remitter certificate inventoryProcess remitter transactions
debit, credit, voids and refundsProvides training on station remitter program
including how to use the remitter application and payment processing terminalAssist with manpower needs of the station by leading and managing staff members. This includes:Creating a working environment that generates high employee morale and productivityScheduling, assigning, and directing work to meet performance standards and contract requirementsSelecting, coaching, training, and managing performance of team.Evaluating employees by providing constructive feedback, counseling and documenting appropriately.Conducting new hire and annual performance reviews in established timeframesEnforcing Program dress code to ensure professional employee and station appearanceAssist the station manager in meeting the overt auditing requirementPerform waiver inspections on all applicable vehicles, and grants waivers according to IEPA guidelinesTravels to other stations as needed to provide management and staffing supportPerform other duties as assigned by the station managerAbility to learn and understand the function of selected emissions control devicesAbility to work independentlyGood communication skills, both written and verbalGood time management and teambuilding skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsCommitment to providing outstanding customer service and satisfactionAbility to interact professionally with a diverse population in a variety of situationsProficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookAble to enter and exit customer vehicles and stoop, bend, and reachAble to work in extreme weather conditionsHigh school diploma or equivalentPrevious vehicle inspection experience is preferredValid driver's license and good driving record
