On Cue Hire is seeking an Associate Producer for a growing news network in Washington, DC.
Onsite position
Hours: 9am-6pm
Salary: $75,000-$80,000

This role is ideal for an Associate Producer with strong editorial judgment, solid writing skills, and a working knowledge of U.S. politics and current events.

The Associate Producer will support live and taped news programming, assisting with content development, scripting, guest coordination, and live production execution. This is a fully onsite role in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment requiring close collaboration with producers, on-air talent, and technical teams.

Responsibilities

Research breaking news, political developments, and current events relevant to daily programming

Assist in developing story ideas, segment outlines, and editorial elements

Draft, edit, and fact-check scripts, teases, and show elements for live and taped segments

Support Senior and Executive Producers with editorial organization and script revisions

Research and assist with booking guests, including pre-interviews and briefing materials

Coordinate guest logistics, scheduling, and on-air preparation

Support live broadcasts and taped segments, including rundown management and timing

Assist with last-minute editorial changes and breaking news coverage

Coordinate with control room, technical teams, editors, and on-air talent to ensure smooth execution

Maintain rundowns, production schedules, contact lists, and show notes

Support day-to-day newsroom organization and workflow as needed
Qualifications

Required

1-3 years of professional experience in a television news environment

Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Strong news writing, editing, and storytelling skills

Solid understanding of U.S. politics, current events, and live news production

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask under tight deadlines

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Familiarity with newsroom systems, production tools, and Microsoft Office

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred

Experience supporting live news or political programming

Experience in fast-moving or national news environments

Flexibility to work varied schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as news coverage requires

*This is an onsite position. Salary range: $75,000-$80,000 annually.
