Director - Supplier Quality & Operational Excellence

The Leader of Supplier Quality and Ops Excellence is responsible for leading our global supplier network; delivering exceptional quality, mitigating risk, developing a future‑ready supply base and leading continuous improvement processes & governance.
Responsibilities

Lead and develop a global team of quality engineers and professionals responsible for quality assurance across our global network of suppliers and sub‑tier suppliers.
Collaborate with product engineering, product management, operations and procurement to assess & develop new suppliers and drive continuous improvement with existing suppliers.
Ensure NPI launch readiness so suppliers meet milestones and requirements throughout the product development cycle, including DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, run‑at‑rate (capacity & quality) and PPAP approval.
Develop and implement supplier quality strategy and roadmap to drive supplier product and process improvements; includes assessment of existing supplier capabilities & processes, benchmarking industry best practices, gap identification/prioritization, establishing plans and projects to mitigate and driving project implementation.
Monitor supplier performance, lead the global team to manage performance metrics and use data to drive performance improvements (e.g., Warranty, PPM).
Conduct supplier and maturity assessments to ensure supplier QMS are operating properly and proactively identify systemic process issues.
Drive issue resolution with suppliers regarding quality topics (manufacturing & field). Establish containment, drive root cause analysis, implement short‑term/long‑term corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
Develop a sub‑tier supplier management program, improving visibility of all aspects of quality throughout the product transformation process (manufacturing site down to 2nd, 3rd tier suppliers as needed/applicable).
Support Warranty Recovery, working cross‑functionally to recover cost from suppliers for supplier‑caused warranty/customer issues.
Support supplier sustainability processes development and implementation to support HP sustainability targets.
Lead data‑driven continuous improvement projects to reduce cost, improve quality and improve efficiency. Establish and monitor leading indicators with a process to act and resolve issues and share best practices across the supplier network.
Develop team skills and capabilities to support current strategic activities and build an organization that can support the future‑ready supply chain.
Lead and develop a high‑performing team of Lean and Six Sigma professionals responsible for delivering ongoing improvements across our Supply Chain & Digital organizations with a focus on innovation and continuous learning.
Deploy a Lean Six Sigma operating system that drives and manages continuous improvement activities that create value, reduce waste and improve productivity.
Provide leadership, training and coaching to Six Sigma practitioners and the LSS project portfolio. Strong skills in developing people, building cross‑functional teams, coaching and providing effective feedback.
Collaborate with product engineering, product management, supply chain and digital functions to deliver projects that support strategic initiatives—drive process excellence and optimization for non‑manufacturing functions and global processes (GPOs), including enterprise‑wide collaboration.
Facilitate utilization of automation & AI tools and technology to enhance and accelerate process improvements.
Develop and implement LSS strategy and roadmap to drive and develop continuous improvement culture throughout the organization.
Champion LSS training program; manage curriculum, standards and certification processes. Engage and motivate the organization to embrace continuous improvement practices.
Utilize statistical analysis and data‑driven approaches to identify opportunities for improvement and measure effectiveness and impact.
Establish continuous improvement goals, KPIs and metrics aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives. Track & measure performance and communicate to the organization and senior leadership.
Maintain a big‑picture mindset, drive transformative actions and challenge the status quo.
Demonstrate strong senior‑leader stakeholder management, executive‑level communication, delivering enterprise‑wide projects from concept to implementation, and influence at all levels of the organization.
Show strong financial acumen and the ability to justify, baseline and report project status.
Proficient in statistical knowledge, simulation and analytical methods and software (PowerBI, Tableau, Minitab, etc.).
Proficient in Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies and managing multi‑project portfolios.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering) or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.
15+ years of experience in a supply‑chain manufacturing and supplier quality environment.
Mastery of all Six Sigma concepts and tools including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, Root Cause Analysis, DMAIC, etc.
Significant supply‑chain and operations background, with experience in supplier manufacturing, product, and process quality; experience with OEM ODMs preferred.
Experience operating in a lean production system (TPS or equivalent) with lean Six Sigma credentials.
Transformational program management experience; demonstrated ability to transform an organization or business model by changing processes, systems, people/skills, culture, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills that foster collaboration within teams, with business partners, cross‑functional teams and suppliers.
Experience developing and leading a Supplier Relationship Management program.
Executive influence and communication skills across verbal, written and formal presentation settings.
Strong problem‑solving skill with analytic mindset.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Master Black Belt preferred.
Continuous improvement and implementation experience required.
Project Management skills, experience operating in an Operations environment; experience operating across all Supply Chain functions preferred.
Proven change agent and change management skills required.

Contributes to the development of company objectives and achieves goals through subordinate high‑level individual contributors and managers.

Compensation

Pay range for this role is $166,050 to $265,700 USD annually with additional opportunities for bonuses and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
