Caterpillar is seeking a highly skilled Creative Consultant – Broadcast Engineer to design, implement, and sustain complex broadcast and live production systems supporting global communications.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain broadcast-quality video systems, including studio environments, control rooms, and mobile/live event infrastructure.
Engineer and operate multi‑camera, multi‑format live production systems for global broadcasts, town halls, and enterprise summits.
Lead the technical architecture of video signal flow, including routing, switching, encoding/decoding, transmission, and monitoring systems.
Support and optimize IP‑based broadcast workflows (NDI, SMPTE ST 2110, etc.) and traditional SDI infrastructures.
Configure and manage live streaming platforms, encoding pipelines, and content distribution networks for internal and external audiences.
Serve as primary technical liaison with external production vendors, integrators, and technology partners.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex real‑time issues across audio, video, networking, and control systems during critical live events.
Ensure redundancy, failover strategies, and system resilience for high‑visibility productions.
Develop and document standard operating procedures, system diagrams, and engineering best practices.
Collaborate with creative and production teams to translate vision into technically executable solutions.
Evaluate emerging broadcast technologies and recommend strategic investments and upgrades.
Core Qualifications
Advanced Broadcast Engineering Expertise:
Deep knowledge of professional broadcast systems including video switchers, routers, multiview platforms, audio consoles, intercom systems, signal synchronization, recording, playback, and media asset workflows.
Live Production Systems Engineering & Networking:
Proven experience designing and supporting large‑scale live broadcast environments; expertise in signal flow design, system integration, and technical troubleshooting under pressure; strong understanding of network infrastructure for broadcast, including VLANs, QoS, multicast, bandwidth optimization, and IP video standards and workflows.
Technical Problem Solving & Collaboration:
Ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve critical production issues in live environments; clear communication of complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders; cross‑functional collaboration with creative teams, IT, and external vendors; alignment of broadcast technology decisions with enterprise communication goals and long‑term scalability.
Preferred Skills
Experience engineering broadcast studios, control rooms, or enterprise video networks.
Hands‑on expertise with Grass Valley, Blackmagic, or similar production systems; vMix, OBS, Wirecast, or enterprise live production tools.
Experience with cloud‑based production workflows and remote technologies.
Knowledge of video compression standards (H.264, H.265) and streaming protocols (RTMP, SRT).
Experience supporting large global broadcasts with distributed audiences.
Familiarity with cybersecurity considerations for broadcast/IP video systems.

Lead design and buildout of a control room for executive events.
Deliver seamless, high‑quality broadcasts to global audiences.
Proactively identify and mitigate production risks with minimal downtime.
Drive innovation in broadcast technology and capabilities (e.g., NDI, remote participation).
Continuously improve workflows, systems, and cost‑efficiency.
Build clear documentation and best practices for scalability and repeatable success.
Education
Bachelor's degree in broadcast engineering, communications, computer science, or equivalent experience.
Location & Travel
Primary location: Irving, Texas.
International and domestic travel up to 20%.

$97,530.00 – $146,290.00 (summary range; actual compensation may vary).
