We are currently experiencing exciting growth and seeking an Interiors Designer 2 to play a pivotal role in our San Francisco studio.

Role
The Designer 2 designs and prepares documents for a range of project types across several phases including programming, survey and field verification, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration. This role collaborates with other roles in the office and is mentored by designers and architects. The Designer 2 designs to meet project requirements, contributes to the development of architectural site, building and/or interior designs. The Designer 2 role, depending on a project’s scope, size and complexity, may work independently on small‑scale projects or within a larger design team on larger, more complex projects.

Responsibilities

Creates initial design concepts and documentation and seeks team review

Communicates with Project Manager, Job Captain and other team members on program, design, budget and schedule for timely and appropriate design development and budget.

Develops 3D studies, models, drawing and renderings with some oversight. Provides guidance to junior staff team on these tasks.

Prepares and participates in developing presentation techniques that communicate the design concept(s) to the internal teams and client

Creates various design approaches with guidance of team members

Demonstrates knowledge and application of building codes and technical knowledge for projects

Applies standard RMW best practices, details and forms

Prepares design and construction documents

Utilizes RMW standard templates, details and forms

Researches manufacturers, evaluates and selects materials, finishes, furniture and building systems that align with project goals

With team support, develops initial concepts to integrate building systems, structure and technology requirements

Coordinates consultants’ work during design phases with oversight

Develops drawing backgrounds for consultants

Supports Construction Administration with site observations, RFIs and submittals

Qualifications

Professional degree or recognized equivalent

Pursing licensure or certification or complete

5+ years of relevant experience

Ability to execute high levels of design

Problem solver with a strong sense of design, building systems and materials

Introductory knowledge: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rendering software, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite

Salary range $78,000 – $90,000 per year.
