Editor, Outkick

Overview

OutKick is a national multimedia platform that produces and distributes engaging content at the intersection of sports news, culture and pop culture. The company is owned by FOX Corporation.
Responsibilities

Shape editorial coverage by assigning stories, editing, and taking in pitches from reporters and OutKick.com talent.
Work closely with the OutKick.com head of content, senior editors and the social media team.
Work directly with the OutKick.com editorial team on stories and angles to leverage OutKick.com angles.
Know the news cycle to ensure OutKick covers all pertinent news for our audience.
Support senior editors in the management and daily editorial of the site.
Copy‑edit and fact‑check stories before they publish.
Write and report when necessary.
Attempt to meet deadlines and be on call during emergencies or breaking news conditions.
Qualifications

At least 4 years of experience in news, TV, or digital.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience.
Experience using content management systems.
Strong interest and knowledge in sports, pop culture, culture and news.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi‑task.
Strong SEO and social media skills.
Strong communication skills.
Ability/flexibility to work different shifts including evenings and weekends, and to be on call for emergency or breaking news.
Excellent news judgment.
Experience with AI and willingness to adopt AI as part of daily workflow to create efficiencies.
Prior experience with newsletters (a plus).
Prior experience with digital analytics to monitor and build traffic (a plus).

Benefits

This role is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, and other insurance; a 401(k) plan; paid time off; and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Union employees receive benefits in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Pay

The pay range is $74,000.00–$95,000.00 annually for high‑cost labor markets such as New York City and Los Angeles, and $61,600.00–$79,100.00 annually for all other U.S. locations.
