BJC is seeking an experienced Manager of Marketing & Editorial to join The Foundation for Barnes‑Jewish Hospital. The role blends strategic leadership of a growing marketing team with hands‑on marketing, storytelling, and editorial management.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a cross‑functional marketing team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
Ensure the team’s productivity meets or exceeds the department’s operational goals.
Develop and adhere to departmental staffing, revenue, and expense budgets.
Respond to business changes that affect budget attainment.
Strengthen existing communication and marketing platforms, channels, and tools by leveraging best practices.
Integrate change‑management concepts and strategies into all team responsibilities and marketing deliverables.
Manage strategic marketing partnerships with sports teams, local and regional organizations.
Support senior leadership in managing external vendor relationships and deliverables for advertising, publications, web materials, and measurement.
Identify marketing and communications infrastructure needs and devise plans to address deficiencies.
Evaluate effectiveness and proactively seek opportunities for departmental improvement.
Address employee and consumer concerns and implement planning initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred).
Experience: 5–10 years in nonprofit marketing, editorial development, and team leadership (10+ years preferred).
Supervisor Experience: 5–10 years (10+ years preferred).
Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑functional teams and deliver marketing communications at scale.
Proficiency in storytelling, content strategy, and coordination with writers, designers, and video teams.
Strong knowledge of change management, vendor relationships, and budgeting for marketing initiatives.
