Director, Employer Engagement What you will do
Shape the Employer Access Strategy and lead the national strategy to expand employer coverage of GLP-1 therapies for obesity and related conditions, and other product(s) as assigned.
Identify, segment and prioritize key employer stakeholders, including Jumbo Employers, HR/Benefit leaders, Employer Benefit Consultants, and employer coalitions for tailored, routine obesity engagement and other therapeutic areas/products, as warranted.
Shape employer-focused value propositions that communicate clinical outcomes, economic impact, and long-term healthcare savings.
Partner with HEOR teams to leverage outcomes data and real‑world evidence (RWE) to support employer coverage and access decisions.
Drive initiatives to reduce formulary access, clinical, and economic barriers to access.
Lead Employer Market Launch Readiness‑Critical Engagement: support launch planning, execution, and post‑launch optimization.
Hire employer market account team and guide employer engagement priorities and communications.
Support compliant development of employer‑specific training resources, engagement materials, and B2B promotional strategies.
Partner with Sales Leadership to strengthen customer engagement strategies and sales enablement efforts.
Anticipate access barriers and design strategies to accelerate coverage adoption.
Partner cross‑functionally (Brand, HEOR, Medical, Policy, Sales, Legal, Regulatory) to ensure aligned and differentiated value delivery.
Build Strategic External Relationships: establish and maintain executive‑level relationships with employers, employer benefits consultants, and national coalitions; partner with employer groups and national employer benefit consultants to shape obesity management as a chronic disease requiring treatment and proactively influence obesity benefit design strategies.
Represent Amgen in high‑impact external industry forums, customer engagements, and policy discussions to influence benefit design trends, improved access, and policy direction.
Drive Business Impact, Insights & Analytics: manage performance against business objectives, key performance indicators, and coverage expansion targets; translate employer insights and competitive market intel into actionable recommendations for the account management team and cross‑functional teams; lead development of account strategies that align access, contracting, and value to support a positive patient journey; monitor employer market trends, market segmentation changes, legislative changes, and competitive class dynamics to proactively identify growth opportunities; provide strategic direction to field teams to ensure consistent and high‑impact engagement; integrate employer insights into brand strategy, access planning, and POA development.
What will we expect of you Doctorate degree and 4 years of Sales, Marketing and/or Payor experience OR Master’s degree and 8 years of Sales, Marketing and/or Payor experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Sales, Marketing and/or Payor experience.
Deep expertise in U.S. market access with strong experience in employer and/or payer engagement; proven success influencing coverage, reimbursement, or benefit design decisions; experience supporting product launches or major access inflection points.
Strong understanding of obesity, cardiometabolic, or specialty market dynamics.
Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels, leading through influence.
Executive presence with experience engaging C‑suite or senior external stakeholders.
Comfortable with ambiguity and a fast‑paced, highly dynamic environment.
Must be a team leader with demonstrated success in inspiring and leading cross‑functional business initiatives.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $232,996 - $315,231. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
