Job Description - Sales Manager (Irving, TX) (JR108046)
International leadership and sales excellence are at the core of this role. Candidates must report to and work from the Irving office on a regular basis, therefore a distance of no more than a 50‑minute drive from Irving, TX is required.
The Sales Manager will grow existing accounts through forecasting and responsive customer service, develop and execute strategic plans that align with corporate goals, manage receivables, maintain strong client relationships, present new McLane programs, align resources with customer needs, and control expenses within budget limits.

What you’ll do as a Sales Manager:
Sales Strategy and Execution
Develop and execute strategic plans focused on customer insights, exceeding sales targets and expanding the customer base.
Sell McLane solutions in assigned accounts and drive growth through new and expanded business.
Calculate profitability of customers and products, delivering accurate and informative presentations.
Influence key variables affecting fill rate, in‑stocks, and supply reliability.
Participate in divisional projects such as new business onboarding, semi‑annual re‑routes, aged inventory disposition, recalls, and other activities requiring excellent communication and follow‑up.
Communication and Influence
Maintain a digital record of all customer engagements, highlighting friction, strategic concerns, opportunities, and required actions.
Prepare and lead customer business reviews (minimum quarterly) for assigned accounts, presenting new programs, promotions, trade events, SKU management, gap analysis, overstock reduction, and technology solutions.
Consistently utilize and promote the Key Account Leadership process (KAL) and adoption of McLane technology investments (e.g., Salesforce.com, Tableau).
Build and maintain relationships with key customer influencers and decision makers.
Maintain visibility with customers in stores, meetings, and at their office per assigned call frequency, identifying friction and opportunities to grow sales.
Analysis and Reporting
Effectively learn and utilize McLane technology investments to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and consistency when communicating on behalf of McLane.
Understand all available information and reports to manage assigned accounts and add value to the customer and McLane.
Ask insightful questions to continually improve personal effectiveness.
Evaluate public insights into key competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, financials, technology, new initiatives, and limitations.
Stay current on industry trends, enhanced selling, and leadership training, perpetually growing skills and knowledge.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you’ll bring as a Sales Manager:
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
Ability to compute profitability of customers and product lines, and deliver accurate business reviews and presentations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, professional attitude and appearance, organization, self‑confidence, multi‑taskoriented decision‑making, and planning for success.
Highly proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
Willing to travel as requested.
English reading, writing, and comprehension at a level sufficient to perform job‑related tasks effectively and safely, including safety protocols and essential communications.
