Digital Producer Responsibilities
Lead the transition from broadcast‑focused newsrooms to multi‑platform newsrooms, providing daily active examples and training in methods, processes, and tactics.
Create and edit original content beyond on‑air production.
Execute winning strategy for station content across social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
Write clear and concise stories for the web and other digital platforms; review copy and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation.
Use the station’s Social Media and Website to build and reinforce brand recognition and drive viewers/readers.
Research and analyze background information related to news stories to provide complete and accurate information.
Gather information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions.
Pitch on‑brand local and trending stories during morning meetings.
Check reference materials such as news files or public records to obtain relevant facts.
Produce reports for all platforms.
Ensure all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Build and calendar digital campaigns to promote local shows and specials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Find new ways to use Social Media and the website to engage with viewers.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to research, interview, and write original news articles.
Clever headline writer that attracts clicks.
Strong multi‑tasking abilities.
Organized, technical problem‑solver and quick decision‑maker.
Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style.
Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in teams.
Ability to learn new technology independently and quickly.
Strong communicator.
Experience & Requirements
2 years of experience in digital content and journalism.
Degree in journalism preferred but not required; daily newspaper or news site experience preferred but not required.
Live, working web samples and/or print pages preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office; HTML, CSS, and Photoshop experience a plus.
Strong understanding of Google Analytics; Chartbeat experience a plus.
Some schedule flexibility (nights, weekends).
Regularly meets measurements of success.
Technical Skills
Basic understanding of Photoshop.
Proficiency in MS Office.
HTML / CSS knowledge.
Photoshop experience (plus).
