Your role at Clorox The Head of Internal Communications (Associate Director) is responsible for leading Clorox's enterprise internal communications strategy and execution, ensuring teammates are informed, engaged, and connected to our purpose, strategy, and business priorities. This role serves as a senior strategic advisor to executive leaders, shaping how we communicate critical enterprise moments to our most important stakeholders. It drives alignment across the organization, strengthening our transformation at scale, and leads a high‑performing internal communications center of excellence with accountability for internal executive communications, enterprise messaging, and teammate engagement.
In this role, you will: Enterprise Internal Communications Strategy Define and lead the company’s internal communications strategy aligned to enterprise priorities, purpose and values, and business performance.
Develop strong relationships with functional and business leaders; identify communications needs and establish strategic plans and tactical implementation.
Anticipate communications needs and lead proactive planning for key enterprise moments and transformations; create an integrated narrative and roadmap that clearly links business priorities with individual performance.
Executive Communications Advise and work with CEO and other senior executives to drive strategic internal communications through regular touch points, global town halls, quarterly earnings announcements, annual anniversary recognition events, and leadership meetings.
Shape messaging that drives clarity, trust, and action across the organization.
Develop strong messaging platforms, templates and tools to assist senior leaders with their town halls, team communications and recognition events.
Teammate Engagement Design communications that reinforce Clorox's purpose, values, and culture.
Drive engagement strategies and tactics that build understanding, alignment, and connection across global teams.
Partner with HR to support performance, employee listening, and change initiatives; develop an annual plan and calendar that supports annual HR processes including benefits open enrollment, performance management review cycles, and career development opportunities.
Develop templates, tools and processes used by HR leaders to directly conduct strategic communications at a functional or local level.
Manager Communications Capability Provide communications resources to help managers drive teammate understanding of company strategies, business priorities, values and behaviors.
Translate corporate strategies into actionable functional or business unit priorities.
Develop and promote adoption of communication channels to spark manager dialogue with teammates at the functional and business unit level.
Cross‑Functional Integration Partner across HR, Investor Relations, Legal, Business Units, and Transformation teams to drive a consistent enterprise narrative and strong employee experience (in‑person and digital).
Act as a central integrator during high‑priority or high‑risk enterprise communications.
Serve as a key member of the corporate communications leadership team for issues management and crisis response.
Team Leadership Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing internal communications team; set clear priorities, ensure disciplined execution, and drive accountability for results.
Serve as a member of the corporate communications leadership team and inform overall communications strategy.
Foster a culture of excellence, speed, and continuous improvement.
What we look for: 10 years of experience in corporate communications, with significant focus on internal communications.
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise‑level communications strategies in complex organizations.
Experience advising and supporting senior executives, including CEO‑level communications.
People‑management experience; strong leadership skills to support team growth and development.
Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to translate business strategy into clear, actionable communication.
Proven crisis communications experience – advising senior leaders in crisis situations and developing and executing crisis plans to engage internal audiences.
Outstanding writing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities.
Proven ability to influence across senior leaders and navigate ambiguity.
High judgment and ability to manage sensitive, high‑stakes communications.
Data‑driven approach to measuring communications effectiveness.
Experience leveraging digital platforms and emerging AI tools.
Operates with an enterprise mindset and strong business acumen.
Leads with clarity, accountability, and a bias for action.
Builds trust and credibility with senior leaders and teammates.
Anticipates risks and opportunities, and acts with agility.
Models Clorox values and elevates standards across the function.
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, business, or a related field required.
Advanced degree (MBA or Master's in Communications) preferred.
