This role sits at the center of theSkimm’s biggest opportunity: transforming a highly trusted brand and massive audience into deeper, more personalized engagement and ultimately, sustainable business value. You’ll be the connective tissue across the product ecosystem and the champion of making every user interaction feel intentional, valuable, and unmistakably Skimm.
We’re looking for a strategic, user‑obsessed Product Manager to own the end‑to‑end customer journey across all Skimm surfaces—newsletters, website, and the app. Your mission is to build a seamless, connected experience that moves millions of millennial women from first touch to habit‑forming engagement, turning that engagement into measurable revenue growth, stronger retention, and long‑term business value. This is a full‑time position reporting to the Head of Product, with close collaboration across Marketing, Lifecycle Optimization, Design, Engineering, and Content teams. The role is hybrid; the successful candidate will work out of the NYC office 1–2 days per week as directed by the manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify real customer problems and turn them into opportunities that drive audience and revenue growth.
- Map what should happen at every step of the user journey to help people progress with clarity and confidence.
- Pinpoint where our surfaces (email, site, app) need improvements to reduce friction and unlock engagement.
- Ship the right solutions quickly by deciding what to build, refine, or retire in service of aggressive performance and business goals.
- Define and own how we measure success through user behavior, product usage, conversion, and retention, holding teams accountable to deliver meaningful outcomes.
- Drive how users discover value, deepen their relationship with the brand and content, and ultimately convert into loyal and engaged users.
What You’ll Do
- Own the customer journey from first impression to long‑term loyalty.
- Define, optimize, and continuously evolve the user flow across newsletters, web, and the app.
- Build a cohesive strategy that accelerates activation, engagement, and retention.
- Own short‑ and long‑term product roadmaps for our portfolio of products and services and the systems that drive those experiences.
- Ensure continued audience‑facing improvements, compliance, and security across our suite of products, wrapped in an experience that delights consumers and contributes to growth.
- Manage stakeholder communications and set expectations.
- Identify the best partners in our space, working with cross‑functional teams to connect our vision with those partners.
- Author use‑cases and user stories, and build shared understanding.
- Provide clear vision and scope documentation—use cases, workflows, wireframes, design requirements, and other materials needed to support product creation and refinement.
- Drive cross‑surface product experiences, building the "glue" between surfaces (personalized triggers, cross‑promotions, onboarding, lifecycle nudges).
- Lead experimentation & insights, develop and run a roadmap driven by qualitative and quantitative insights.
- Dig into data and user signals to identify friction points and breakthrough opportunities.
- Champion a culture of learning, constant iteration, and clarity around what moves the funnel.
- Shape how Skimm shows differentiated value and clarify and elevate our paid value proposition.
- Partner with the content team to drive upgrades, return visits, and habit‑forming moments.
- Build for scale, create frameworks, systems, and repeatable playbooks the whole org can use.
- Manage cross‑functional alignment so teams row in the same direction.

- 10+ years of product experience, ideally across consumer media, subscription products, marketplaces, or lifestyle apps with roadmap and KPI responsibility.
- Deep experience with email, web, app, lifecycle, and multi‑surface journeys with a media focus.
- Think in systems and pathways, not just features.
- Know how to turn user behavior data into a roadmap with real outcomes.
- Excellent communicator and collaborator who can rally creative, editorial, marketing, and engineering around a shared goal.
- Comfortable going from 0 to 1, 1 to growth, and iteration cycles with ambiguous requirements.
- Empathetic to user needs and sharp about business drivers.
- Known for creating clarity, momentum, and a sense of focus.
- Strong quantitative and analytical abilities that drive decisions.
- Ability to organize and motivate large cross‑functional teams, managing conflicting interests and driving to solutions.
