Job Description
Job Title: Classroom Teacher (Assistant Choir Director)

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Building Principal

Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale

Dept./School: Assigned Campus

Days: 187

Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate in-person and virtual instruction designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)

Knowledge of assigned subjects

General knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices for online learning

Strong knowledge of Internet and web–related technology

Ability to instruct students and manage behavior

Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to support students with computer set‑up, navigation, and technology issues

Student teaching or approved internship, or related work experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Develop and implement plans that fulfill the district’s curriculum program requirements and provide written evidence of preparation.

Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in learning styles.

Present subject matter according to guidelines set by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.

Use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, technology that reflect student learning styles and needs.

Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan activities.

Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with IEPs.

Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.

Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides/volunteers.

Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.

Provide timely feedback and track progress.

Conduct ongoing assessment and feedback related to student achievement.

Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities; sponsor outside approved activities.

Be a positive role model and support the mission of the school district.

Create an in‑person and virtual classroom conducive to learning and student development.

Manage student behavior per Student Code of Conduct and handbook.

Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.

Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing for district personnel, students, and parents.

Communicate accurately and clearly to students and parents through various channels.

Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

Use effective communication skills for clarity.

Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.

Stay informed of state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Compile, maintain, and file required reports and documents.

Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees when required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise assigned teacher aides.

Serve as mentor to student teachers.

Working Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer, phone systems, video/instructional equipment, and peripherals.

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists.

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (≤15 pounds).

Environment: Work from school, home, or other locations; exposure to noise and computer monitors.

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours.
