Job Overview
Meijer is looking for a dynamic Customer Service Department Manager to lead, inspire, and drive operational excellence in our East and West Grand Rapids store locations. The manager will be responsible for overall team member engagement, driving recognition, feedback, coaching, performance management, training, development, and succession planning. They will direct Leads and Team Leaders, and ultimately be accountable for area operations and financials, including shrink, productivity, safety, scheduling, forecasting staffing needs, and conflict resolution.
What You'll be Doing
Engages with team members in span of care to ensure they receive appropriate onboarding, training, development, coaching, and feedback.
Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support overall store staffing and a diversified talent pipeline for team member and leadership roles.
Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and support employee growth within the organization.
Accountable for area operations and financial results by overseeing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity, owning budget line items in the P&L.
Drives safety and compliance throughout the store, managing overall condition and following all compliance procedures.
Ensures Team Leaders and Leads provide guidance, assign daily work, and address training needs.
May perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
Progressive leadership experience preferred.
Passion to provide industry-leading service.
Clear and precise communication skills with team members.
Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
Demonstrated leadership of safe work practices.
Proactive and creative thinking applied to business operations.
Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs and drive sales.
Strong business acumen.
Innovative attitude to help set industry standards.
