Columbus School for Girls (CSG) is an independent day school in Columbus, Ohio, founded in 1898, serving students in grades pre‑k through 12.
Position Summary
Columbus School for Girls seeks a skilled and strategic Editorial & Communications Associate to support the Director of Strategic Communications & Marketing in developing and executing high-quality, mission-aligned communications. This role leads editorial planning and content creation across key publications, including Forte et Gratum and the Annual Report, while managing digital communications and external partnerships. The ideal candidate brings strong writing and editing expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Editorial Leadership & Content Development
Serve as lead editor for Forte et Gratum (two issues annually) and the Annual Report, overseeing content development, timelines, and production.
Write and edit feature stories, profiles, and institutional narratives that reflect the voice and strategic priorities of CSG.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather content, shape messaging, and ensure accuracy and alignment.
Maintain editorial standards, tone, and AP style consistency across all publications.
Digital & Print Communications
Manage and produce weekly and monthly newsletters, including content planning, writing, editing, and distribution.
Write and publish website content, including news stories, feature articles, and strategic messaging updates.
Ensure consistency and quality across all communications platforms.
Partner with internal teams to ensure website content remains current, accurate and aligned with institutional priorities.
Project Management & Vendor Coordination
Oversee production timelines for major publications and communications projects.
Manage relationships with external vendors, including designers, printers, photographers, and freelancers.
Coordinate design and print processes, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
Review proofs and final materials to ensure accuracy and quality.
Strategic Support
Partner with the Director of Strategic Communications & Marketing and the Digital Media & Marketing Associate to support broader communication strategies and institutional priorities.
Identify storytelling opportunities that elevate the School’s brand and highlight student, faculty and alumnae achievements.
Support special projects and campaigns as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field.
2 – 4+ years of experience in editorial, communications, or marketing roles.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong understanding of AP style.
Experience managing print publications and working with designers and vendors.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Experience with CMS platforms and email marketing tools preferred.
Collaborative, detail-oriented and highly organized.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across departments.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods while working at a computer.
Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, video conference, and in writing.
Ability to read, review, and proofread printed and digital materials with attention to detail.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and transport materials weighing up to 20 pounds, including publications, printed materials, event supplies, and equipment.
Ability to travel locally to meetings, vendor locations, photography sessions, and school-related events as needed.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support school events, publication deadlines, and special projects.
