Studio & Digital Media Operations Coordinator – College of Business and Economics

Employment Type: Regular, full‑time, 12‑month Academic Staff position. Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of CoBE Tech.
Key Responsibilities

Lead technical operations for media production spaces, including recording studio, podcast studio, photography, and related digital media environments.
Operate, configure, and maintain broadcast‑grade audio, video, and signal distribution systems (SDI, NDI, SRT), ensuring content adheres to digital compliance standards, including WCAG 2.1 LevelAA accessibility guidelines.
Work as the hands‑on primary video and audio editor; plan and execute livestreaming and post‑production workflows; create professional graphics, special effects, and animations using Adobe Creative Cloud to meet station‑level production quality for college operations and promotional communications.
Operate and monitor audiovisual broadcasting equipment to ensure proper recording of programming according to established requirements and requests.
Provide classroom and event audiovisual support (setup, installation, upgrades, configuration, testing, troubleshooting), including occasional evening events.
Supervise, hire, schedule, train, assign work to, and evaluate student employees supporting media, classroom, and instructional technology operations.
Consult, train, and provide hands‑on support to faculty, staff, and student users on learning technologies, media tools, and production workflow.
Collaborate with ITS and campus colleagues on shared initiatives to increase knowledge sharing, collaboration, and service effectiveness.
Assess media technology needs; manage inventory; recommend equipment purchases and replacements; coordinate installations aligned with operational priorities.
Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures for media studio recordings, photography requests, and equipment usage.
Support media and technology environments for classroom instruction, events, meetings, studio production, and related college activities.
Support specialized environments such as the podcast studio and media studio.
Monitor expenditures and track multiple funding streams related to student employee staffing and operational support to keep budgeted amounts within limits.
Create, design, and produce digital content across multiple media platforms to support college operations and communications.
Organize and maintain media assets, project files, equipment records, and documentation to ensure efficient operations and workflow continuity.
Collaborate with CoBE Tech and College colleagues to align media services with unit‑level priorities and broader college strategic goals.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in media production, instructional technology, communications technology, information technology, digital media, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience).
Demonstrated experience supporting audio, video, and media production environments (studios, podcast spaces, classrooms, events).
Experience operating, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining audiovisual, recording, streaming, computer, and related peripheral equipment.
Experience with livestreaming, recording, and advanced post‑production editing; ability to create motion graphics and special effects; knowledge of digital compliance standards and broadcast‑level media distribution workflows.
Ability to provide technical support, consultation, and training to individuals with varying skill levels.
Ability to assess user and operational needs and recommend appropriate equipment, software, workflow solutions.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems independently, and provide reliable service in a dynamic environment.
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
Preferred Qualifications

Lead technical resource for media studio, podcast studio, photography space, or similar operations.
Experience supporting classroom and event audiovisual systems (setup, installation, upgrades, testing, troubleshooting).
Experience with podcast production, photography, lighting, video editing, and related practices.
Experience supervising, training, scheduling, or evaluating student employees or other support personnel.
Experience providing consultation or support for instructional or learning technology tools and platforms.
Experience with inventory management, equipment lifecycle planning, procurement support, and vendor coordination.
Experience tracking expenditures, monitoring budgets, or supporting operations across multiple funding sources.
Experience collaborating with IT staff or institutional partners on shared technology initiatives.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, audio/video editing software, livestreaming platforms, and related production technologies.
Experience with professional‑grade production switchers and enterprise service management/ticketing platforms.
Experience contributing to the development or execution of unit‑level strategic initiatives.
Compensation

Salary range: $64,000–$70,000 per year. UW System employees receive an excellent benefit package, including comprehensive health, dental, retirement, and other benefits.
