Summary

Freeman’s Exhibit Solutions team is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead a team of inside sales professionals focused on the rental exhibit market. The Director will mentor and provide daily guidance to team members, ensuring success for individuals and the team as a whole. Responsibilities include achieving and/or exceeding team revenue goals, reporting key metrics, and maintaining adherence to booking guidelines. The role supports our Exhibit Programs team and is eligible for a hybrid schedule, generally requiring in‑office or show‑site work 2‑3 days per week. Ideal candidates are based in one of the following locations:

  • Dallas, TX
  • Chicago, IL
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Alexandria, VA
  • Orlando, FL

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage a large team funnel of opportunities, approximately $25M annually.
  • Focus on product portfolios, modular system rental exhibits.
  • Provide sales coaching (develop account plans, drive timelines, strategic selling, overcome objections, product education).
  • Identify and address skill gaps with team members, providing growth opportunities.
  • Offer honest, appropriate feedback regarding performance on a regular basis.
  • Monitor lead and opportunity volume for maximum effectiveness and hiring strategy.
  • Create a positive, inclusive team environment focused on revenue growth.
  • Prepare performance reports for leadership as needed.
  • Collaborate proactively with other leaders and departments.
  • Conduct hiring for the team as needed.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and regularly evaluate for merit and promotional increases.
  • Oversee account and personnel succession planning to continue growth opportunities and morale.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required with relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales management experience, including direct management of reports, within event marketing, exhibits, experiential, or agency environments.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Track record of developing strong client relationships and successfully closing business.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills, resourceful networking, confident presentation skills, and creative thinking.
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple internal and external systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Workfront and/or SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn a custom Salesforce instance.
  • Demonstrate excellence in customer service with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, positive attitude, and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.

Travel Requirements

Travel up to 25% of the time.
