Symfony Developer

We are seeking an experienced Mid-Level PHP Developer (Independent Contractor) to support client projects and ongoing web development initiatives. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys solving technical challenges, building scalable applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Contractors may work remotely and are expected to provide their own equipment and development environment.

Scope of Work

The selected contractor will provide development services for client-facing web applications and digital solutions, including:
• Developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications built with Symfony and/or Laravel
• Writing clean, maintainable, and reusable code following industry best practices
• Troubleshooting and resolving application issues
• Collaborating with project stakeholders to understand technical requirements and proposed solutions
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to development standards
• Assisting with application integrations, APIs, and database-driven functionality
• Providing accurate status updates and communicating project risks or roadblocks

Required Qualifications
• 2-5 years of professional PHP development experience
• Experience developing applications using Laravel and/or Symfony
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP)
• Experience working with modern PHP development practices (PHP 7/8)
• Experience using Git and version control workflows
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated history of delivering reliable, high-quality code

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with Symfony Framework (preferred but not required)
• Symfony Certification
• Experience with Docker or containerized development environments
• Familiarity with Doctrine ORM, caching, fixtures, and related technologies
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs
• Experience working within Linux environments
• Full-stack development experience (frontend and backend)
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD workflows

Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Equivalent professional experience and demonstrated success will be considered
