ABC News is seeking a

Publicist

for our Longform team covering ABC News Studios, and supporting “20/20,” “Nightline,” “IMPACT x Nightline” and “The View.” As the Publicist on our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the publicity efforts for ABC News programming and talent. You will work closely with the publicity team to execute strategic campaigns that enhance the visibility and reputation of ABC News across various media platforms.

Responsibilities

Press Materials

- Craft press releases including announcements, listings and ratings

Strategy Support

- Works with the team to develop strategies, create press resources including DET press site pages and screeners, coordinate appearances, and messaging to support and promote

Promotional Opportunities

- Target opportunities for promotion and relationship building and growth

Relationship Building

- Help to build relationships with talent, producers, journalists/outlets and content creators for promotion to pitch stories and secure coverage

Press Outreach

- Pitch targeted opportunities

Events/Junkets

- Help in organizing promotional events, junkets including outreach to talent, press and coordinating all logistical details

Coverage

- Monitoring media coverage and crafting coverage recaps to share with execs and partners and to help flag issues and concerns

Planning

- Actively seek new opportunities for promotion and help to develop those relationships by researching opportunities, making recommendations and setting meetings

Required Qualifications

At least two years’ experience in public relations, corporate communications, or related field.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, high-pressure news environment.

Desire and dedication to tackle increasingly greater levels of responsibility.

The ability to prioritize as well as multitask is extremely important.

Professionalism and integrity a must.

Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Willingness to work overtime with short notice.

Must work well under pressure.

Demonstrated organizational skills.

Superior attention to detail.

Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Must be highly organized, detailed oriented, personable and a problem-solver.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Existing knowledge of the television business and industry experience.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $73,600.00 to $101,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
