Role Summary
Vertex is seeking a

Specialist, Buying Channel Orchestration & Enablement

to join the Global Sourcing & Procurement organization within the

Source-to-Pay (S2P) Center of Excellence (COE) . The Specialist is responsible for supporting the business owner with the enabling, managing, and optimizing buying channels and intake orchestration across the S2P lifecycle.

The Specialist will ensure that users are guided to the right buying pathways, suppliers, and workflows through intuitive, policy‑aligned channel design and orchestration tools. Working across platforms such as

Coupa

and intake/orchestration tools such as

Zip, ORO, or similar solutions , the Specialist will help create a buying experience that is compliant, efficient, and easy to use.

This is a business‑facing role, not an IT system ownership role. The Specialist will own the business design, configuration direction, and adoption of buying channels and intake workflows, while partnering closely with Digital/IT for technical implementation and support.

Key Responsibilities
Buying Channel Design & Enablement

Support the design, configuration, and continuous optimization of procurement buying channels, including catalogs, preferred suppliers, guided buying paths, and request channels

Ensure the Specialist's buying channel designs guide users to the appropriate procurement pathway based on category, supplier, policy, and business need

Align buying channels to category strategies, preferred supplier programs, and procurement policy requirements

Help standardize buying experiences to improve usability, consistency, and compliance across the organization

Intake & Orchestration Management

Configure and manage intake and orchestration business rules within platforms such as Zip, ORO, or similar tools

Ensure intake requests are routed efficiently with the right approvals, workflows, and policy guardrails

Continuously refine routing logic, intake rules, forms, and user journeys to improve both user experience and process compliance

Partner with stakeholders to ensure intake experiences support procurement objectives and business needs

Platform & Workflow Configuration

Support the business owner for the configuration of buying channels and intake workflows in tools such as Coupa and orchestration platforms

Translate business requirements into workflows, forms, routing logic, and user experiences

Partner with Digital/IT on technical updates while maintaining ownership of process design and business configuration requirements

Support testing, validation, and process readiness for workflow or channel changes

User Experience & Adoption

Identify friction points across buying channels and intake workflows and drive practical improvements

Support training materials, user documentation, and change management efforts to improve adoption of preferred procurement channels

Support the monitoring of user behavior, channel usage, and workflow outcomes to ensure alignment with intended processes

Support the simplification of complex procurement processes into intuitive and user‑friendly experiences

Compliance & Policy Alignment

Support the business owner to reinforce procurement policies, including preferred supplier use, approved workflows, and 'No PO, No Pay' requirements

Help reduce maverick spend by guiding users through compliant and optimized buying pathways

Partner with Governance and Category teams to maintain alignment between procurement policy and channel execution

Enforce business rules that improve compliance without creating unnecessary complexity

Performance & Continuous Improvement

Track channel effectiveness through metrics such as adoption rates, cycle times, compliance levels, and workflow efficiency

Identify improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements that simplify and standardize the buying experience

Partner with Analytics teams to support reporting, dashboards, and insights on buying channel and intake performance

Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts across the S2P lifecycle

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required

4‑6+ years of experience in procurement, Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P), sourcing operations, buying channel enablement, or related roles

Experience with procurement platforms such as Coupa, including catalogs, guided buying, and supplier enablement

Experience with intake and orchestration tools such as Zip, ORO, or similar workflow‑based platforms

Strong understanding of procurement processes and user‑facing workflows

Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into system‑enabled workflows without owning the technical build

Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional, process‑driven environment with attention to detail and execution quality

Technical Skills

Procurement process knowledge across S2P and P2P activities

Policy‑aligned channel design and compliance enablement

User journey and process experience improvement

Business requirements translation into workflow configurations

Performance tracking, reporting inputs, and continuous improvement support

Preferred Skills

Experience in a COE, procurement transformation, or process excellence environment

Familiarity with guided buying, intake management, and procurement orchestration design

Experience supporting preferred supplier programs and buying channel strategies

Exposure to CLM, TPRM, or P2P integration points across the S2P lifecycle

Experience working in regulated environments with strong compliance expectations

Experience supporting training, adoption, and change management for procurement tools and workflows

This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
