Position Summary
Reporting into the Regional Sales Manager, this role is responsible for new business development and managing sales activities within the assigned territories—North Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas—to increase sales and implement strategic corporate directives.
Responsibilities
Sales
Responsible for new business development in assigned geographic territory.
Maintain close, ongoing communications with the Regional Sales Managers.
Build a professional network to help identify new business.
Meet established goals such as sales, customer growth, pipeline build‑up, and customer visits within the assigned territory.
Increase conversion dollars surpassing year‑over‑year targets.
Direct selling strategy on key opportunities, including pricing, service, investment, risk, scheduling, and technical promotion issues to achieve successful design wins.
Utilize knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop selling propositions and differentiators.
Work with global engineering and sales teams to develop proposals and present products that meet customer requirements.
Research and present market data to segment teams to identify new product development opportunities.
Collaborate with Hirose’s customer support roles to optimize service to customers.
Create and deliver customized and targeted product presentations.
Effectively identify and build relationships with key customer decision makers.
Conduct or assist with product exhibitions (technical shows) at the OEM.
Prepare and submit sales activity reports on a timely basis, including monthly activity reports, visit reports, Sales Force updates, and product forecasting.
Attend sales meetings upon request and present market, account, and project status updates.
Collaborate with local distributors to expand business and support design registration program within assigned region.
Ensure Design Registrations are processed in a timely manner and resolve any conflicts.
Develop strong relationships with account managers at each distribution branch.
Accountable for local distribution success, including growth in POS, new design registrations, existing customer penetration, and new account development.
Maintain high visibility at branch locations to ensure Hirose’s products are positioned as the connector of choice.
Conduct frequent opportunity reviews with Distributor Account Managers to drive accountability and directly involve self in high revenue potential opportunities.
Buddy calls with channel sales teams to drive opportunities for Hirose and identify areas of focus.
Ensure sales opportunities are loaded in SalesForce.com.
Product Development
Identify, evaluate, and coordinate the development of potential product lines with key accounts and future customers.
Implement New Product Introduction (NPI) plans agreed to with Marketing, including target account identification, promotion schedule, samples, and pricing while providing direct feedback to Hirose.
Monitor the design process in order to meet commitment targets with customers.
Continually monitor trends in customer industry to anticipate needs and present Hirose as the leader in the connector industry.
Interface with industry groups and standards committees, as necessary.
Leadership and Teamwork
Demonstrate Hirose’s philosophy of “connecting wisdom” and “always taking the lead, pursuing cutting‑edge differentiation, and being the first to obtain consumer approval.”
Work with Accounts Receivable to ensure accounts are set up for timely payment.
Build close relationships with Hirose Japan personnel and assist with periodic customer visits by Japanese engineers and other Hirose personnel.
Create a collaborative team environment within the HRS support groups.
Administration
Complete tasks per ISO 9001‑2008 requirements when applicable.
Prepare and submit sales activity reports, including rolling 12‑month forecast, Manager’s reports, Regional Program Updates, Distributor Quarterly Business Reports, Private Show updates, and information for the development of Hirose’s CRM database.
Complete all required reports and presentations in a timely fashion.
Requirements
BS/A degree in Business or Technical field required.
Five or more years of sales experience.
Five or more years of sales experience in the electronic component industry required.
Must possess the technical knowledge to fully comprehend customer requirements and provide appropriate HRS product solutions.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent project management skills.
Organizational skills above average; ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and ability to communicate across cultures.
Excellent presentation skills, including creating PowerPoint presentations.
Ability to resolve issues and elevate them in a timely fashion to meet customer needs.
Computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Self‑motivated and positive attitude with great energy.
Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time to multiple customer R&D locations.
