Job Overview

The Louisiana Southwest Operations Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining critical equipment to ensure the safe and reliable performance of our natural gas pipeline and compressor station.
Responsibilities

Start and stop natural gas compression units.
Monitor system pressures and flows.
Operate ancillary equipment and align pipeline valves.
Perform maintenance, inspections, and calibrations on compressor and pipeline equipment.
Execute inspections and maintenance on turbines, compressors, pumps, valves, PSVs, regulators, fans, and other associated station or pipeline equipment.
Operate and maintain Instrumentation, Control Systems, PLCs, electrical systems (VAC/VDC), sensors, switches, pneumatic systems, control valves, and OPP devices.
Calibrate, inspect, and maintain gas measurement meters, chromatographs, and analyzers.
Read and interpret drawings, supervise equipment to maintain operation/technical standards and/or governmental requirements.
Perform right‑of‑way duties, including valve maintenance, locating and marking underground pipelines, overseeing pipeline encroachments, and coordinating excavation activities.
Support a range of tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
Three (3) years of demonstrated experience as an operations technician or similar role.
Preferred: Associate’s or 2‑year technical degree with a minimum of two (2) years of multi‑faceted operations technician experience in the oil and gas industry.
Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical & Environmental Requirements

Willing to work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises, and in enclosed spaces.
Carry or lift items up to 50lbs and team‑lift loads larger than 50lbs as needed.
Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periods.
Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, or small towers with appropriate PPE.
Shift, Work Hours, & Travel

Available to work after hours, on‑call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holidays as needed.
May require overtime, 10–12 hour shifts, and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays.
Must be willing to work night shift infrequently to support operational issues or projects.
For the Starks and Johnson Bayou (Cameron) Location, willing to travel offshore via helicopter for same‑day preventative maintenance and inspections; occasional offshore travel by boat may be required.
Additional Requirements

Coordinate and communicate work with contractors while providing leadership in safety programs and initiatives.
Utilize the Maximo Asset Management System to manage inventory and execute comprehensive maintenance strategies, from preventive to condition‑based, enhancing asset longevity and performance.
Demonstrate aptitude for technology and applications to drive operational efficiency.
Show excellent organizational/interpersonal skills with safety as a priority.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of Process Control Systems and PLCs.
