Job Responsibilities

Adheres to schedule case start times.

Administers medications appropriately.

Assists with the precepting of new employees.

Communicates patient’s current status throughout continuing care.

Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate individuals (e.g., MD, Charge Nurse, Anesthesiologist).

Completes room turnover within department benchmarks.

Complies with unit and departmental scheduling policies.

Contributes to a satisfying work environment through positive attitude, cooperative interactions, problem solving, critical thinking, and collaborative teamwork.

Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to staff competence and patient care needs.

Demonstrates principles of self‑care.

Ensures patient environment is orderly and removes excess equipment.

Sends patient belongings to security as appropriate.

Ensures surgical environment is orderly and removes excess equipment and supplies.

Restocks room as needed.

Ensures that all orders are transcribed properly, cosigns UC orders, and performs quality chart checks.

Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and revises plan of care accordingly.

Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department.

Participates in quality review, infection control, safety performance improvement projects.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Performs assessment and reassessment of patients per department and regulatory standards.

Promotes the professional image of nursing through community activities, hospital committees, community outreach, PAS involvement, certification, etc.

Provides appropriate family education according to patient needs.

Provides hand‑off communication to higher level of care and relief personnel.

Provides patient family education per plan of care and documents it.

Seeks learning experiences to enhance professional skills and communicates to team members.

Hazards include exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and physical injury.

Must meet ADA requirements.

Collaborates with all patient‑related hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel, and medical staff.

Qualifications & Certifications

Current New Jersey (NJ) Nursing License required.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required.

Successful completion of all orientation programs with documented competency.

Additional specialty training may be required based on departmental needs.
