As the Director, Business Transition Advisor, this person serves as the primary Business Transition expert within the Business Transition Advisory Team. The role works directly with high net business owners and closely held business entities to provide professional business transition consulting and advisory services through the development, delivery, and implementation of a customized transition strategy from pre‑through post transaction.
The director collaborates closely with Wealth Management Advisors, Commercial Relationship Managers, and Investment Bankers to expand One Bank opportunities and to achieve annual AUM and fee sales goals. This includes identifying transition opportunities, managing the transition pipeline, coordinating the One Bank team approach, educating advisors, creating thought leadership, and providing subject‑matter expertise in complex tax consulting.
Responsibilities
Plays a major role in the sales process to acquire significant relationships and achieve annual AUM and fee sales goals.
Works closely with business‑owning clients and prospects in all aspects of business transition planning from the business and personal perspectives; develops and manages the transition pipeline to achieve financial and client experience goals.
Co‑ordinates the One Bank team approach in client and prospect transition planning.
Educates advisors on business transition topics, trends, issues; develops collateral internally and externally for advisors, clients, and prospects.
Creates brand awareness and consideration through strategic business development activities and published thought leadership.
Provides subject‑matter expertise in complex tax consulting.
Attends community and/or industry‑specific forums, conferences, and meetings to broaden relations, network, and continually deepen knowledge of trends, practices, products, and competitors.
Participates actively in professional associations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The director may directly supervise planning analysts, providing timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback, developing employees to their fullest potential, ensuring adequate bench strength and succession planning, and recognizing and rewarding accomplishments.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree required; JD/LLM preferred.
Deep expertise of tax, trust & estate planning – CPA, CFP, or Trust Certification preferred.
Minimum of 8 years related Investment or Client Service experience with commercial C‑suite, business owners, high net worth clients (e.g., investment management, trust, legal, or accounting).
Experience with sophisticated business transitions of companies with EBITDA $5 million or greater.
Maintains strong relationships with business partners including Wealth and Asset Management, Regional Leadership, LOB Leadership, and Wholesale Bank through communication and education efforts.
Exhibits a sense of urgency and a continual drive to results and partners effectively with management at all organizational levels.
Displays the ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
Demonstrates superior interpersonal negotiation, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
Uses effective leadership, problem‑solving, and analytic skills.
Computer/Technical: Ability to use all Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Copilot.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
Extended viewing of computer screens.
Travel required – up to 45%.
Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary: $121,900.00 – $262,100.00 per year, depending on role, experience, location, and other factors. Additional incentive compensation is available based on individual and business performance.
