Associate Account Director We are seeking an Associate Account Director to further develop our brand consulting practice as a core member of the professional services category. The role reports to the Director of the sports division and supports client projects, sponsorship activation & strategy, and new business efforts.
Responsibilities Client Management & Strategic Leadership (40%) Develop, maintain and advance professional relationships with clients and partner agencies.
Oversee the team’s day‑to‑day communication and coordination among clients, rights holders and vendors.
Manage the development of client strategies and objectives, revising them as business needs shift.
Drive new partnership solutions to deliver on client goals and evaluate portfolio health with ROI/ROO analysis.
Introduce advanced measurement solutions and consumer insights to guide long‑term activation.
Monitor the marketplace, identify new pursuits, and proactively present growth opportunities.
Ensure client portfolios are managed to the highest standards.
Business Operations (25%) Lead an account team in the management and implementation of marketing campaigns and client portfolios.
Oversee negotiation strategy and approach based on proposal assessment and property knowledge.
Coordinate logistics and execution of partnerships, events and promotions with rights holders and vendors.
Ensure effective delegation of responsibilities and maintain productive team structure.
Develop partnership concepts and strategies using creative and innovative thinking.
Communicate projections and new revenue to finance leadership and handle billing escalations.
Facilitate communication with internal teams, vendors, rights holders and upper management.
Maintain long‑term business relationships and stay informed on industry developments.
Staff Development (20%) Contribute to a positive agency culture through team‑building activities.
Manage the professional development of direct reports, setting goals and tracking performance.
Provide constructive real‑time feedback and address skill gaps.
Lead interview and hiring processes for new team members.
Monitor workload and advise executive leadership on staffing needs.
Support all people functions, including quarterly reviews and training initiatives.
Business Strategy and Development Support (15%) Support HS& E’s new business efforts with strategic solutions, insights and concept ideation.
Build strong relationships with Horizon stakeholders on brand strategy and activation.
Qualifications 6‑8 years of marketing and sponsorship experience at an agency, team, league, rights holder or brand.
Proven performance record with NFL, NBA, NHL, and Formula 1 partnerships is encouraged.
Experience managing a team of at least three account members, including remote staff.
Strong strategic thinking, creative concept development, and measurement knowledge.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presenter to C‑Suite level clients.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ready to work nights, weekends or travel for client programs.
Proactive problem‑solver, solutions oriented and able to handle competing priorities.
Preferred Skills & Experience Deep understanding of the sports landscape.
Experience developing persuasive presentations and comfort presenting to senior leadership.
Knowledge of sponsorship compliance and measurement analysis.
Ability to conduct comprehensive client‑facing research.
Passionate about live events and staying current on trends.
