Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. We specialize in the development, construction, and operation of RNG, landfill‑gas‑to‑electric, and dairy digester facilities.
Introductory Employment Period
Your employment begins with a 90‑day introductory period. During this time, performance, conduct, and reliability are evaluated. Successful completion leads to confirmed at‑will employment; otherwise, employment terminates at the end of the probationary period. The position remains at‑will during and after the introductory period.
Role Expectations
During the introductory period, your supervisor will assess your ability to:

Demonstrate professional behavior and collaborate with team members and management
Key Accountabilities
Manage safe plant operation during assigned shift, ensuring compliance with SOPs and safety standards.
Conduct periodic equipment inspections, record operational data, compare trends, and apply corrective actions.
Review daily operating reports to maintain specified plant characteristics.
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and equipment.
Detect, diagnose, and correct mechanical and electrical malfunctions.
Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
Handle emergencies, directing activities to restore normal operation or safely shut down units.
Test electrical circuits using ohmmeters and voltmeters, and troubleshoot wiring up to 480 V.
Communicate shutdowns or major power changes to Lead Operation Technician and Regional Manager.
Maintain plant equipment and structures per manufacturer and Archaea guidelines.
Keep the plant workplace—including control room, rest rooms, break room, and grounds—clean.
Write routine reports and documentation, and maintain daily operation logs.
Assist in planning maintenance and outage activities, as well as ordering required parts.
Respond promptly to callouts and be available for overtime as needed.
Perform analytical tests (e.g., pH, conductivity, methane, H₂S, moisture) as required.
Implement safety procedures, including lockout/tag‑out.
Handle hazardous waste according to training, including container filling, labeling, movement, and paperwork.
Travel 25–50% of the month: 50% in the first year at a new plant, then 25% thereafter.
Essential Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Essential Experience
Intermediate electrical, chemical, and mechanical experience.
1–3 years of landfill gas, chemical plant, industrial gas, or power plant operations.
Understanding of process control systems for landfill gas collection and processing.
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills with ability to read manuals and schematics.
Familiarity with sensors, transducers, pressure, level, flow, and temperature devices.
Knowledge of gas chemistry, piping, and instrumentation drawings.
Ability to read blueprints, follow procedures with minimal supervision, and work independently.
Recognition of color codes on PLCs and wiring.
Proficiency in safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities for operational issues.
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, email) and monitoring equipment use.
Basic mechanical and chemical experience.
Hands‑on mechanical and process equipment maintenance.
Valid driver’s license; background, physical, hearing, and DOT drug tests required.
Desirable Criteria
3+ years of landfill gas or power plant operations experience.
Any technical certification or training.

Base salary: $31–$32 per hour.
Paid vacation ranging from 120–240 hours per year (full‑time) or 60–240 hours (part‑time).
