Job Description


ABC7 Los Angeles, located in one of the most dynamic, fast‑paced breaking news markets in the country, is looking for a Senior Executive Producer to lead strategy and execution across all our morning news platforms. This is an opportunity for a proven Executive Producer ready to take on the next challenge and step in their career. The role requires a leader with vision, command, and a passion for morning coverage, always seeking ways to better serve viewers 7 days a week. The successful candidate will utilize our state‑of‑the‑art set to innovate morning news breaking, weather, traffic, and storytelling. They will coordinate a large team of varied experience, oversee all morning newscasts on linear and streaming, and work closely with news and station management to establish strategy, resources, and results. The ideal candidate has vast experience leading a news team in a major market, thrives in high‑pressure environments, makes fast, smart editorial decisions, and encourages teams to execute at the highest levels of journalistic excellence. The Senior EP will set the pace and standards for the newsroom each morning, owning everything from editorial direction to execution, ensuring our product stands out, connects, and leads in the market. Knowledge of Southern California is a plus.


This role is considered on‑site and requires work from a company‑designated location on an ongoing basis.


Responsibilities



  • Drive strategy and execution across all morning platforms

  • Effectively execute breaking news throughout the morning

  • Work directly with the assignment desk to proactively plan and manage coverage in advance and in the moment

  • Supervise the entire morning linear and digital staff, including a weekend Executive Producer and weekday Senior Producer

  • Serve as mentor and motivator

  • Jump in as needed, including producing and commanding a live control room

  • Collaborate with morning talent on development opportunities

  • Work directly with station leadership to evaluate results and opportunities

  • Work with the research department to analyze ratings and data insights

  • Create a culture of collaboration and innovation


Basic Qualifications



  • Minimum of 7 years experience in local television newsroom management

  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadline pressure in a fast‑paced, big‑market environment

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills


Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of Dalet

  • Executive Producer experience in a Top 10 Market


Compensation and Benefits


The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $168,300 to $225,800 per year. The base pay may vary based on internal equity, geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
