About the Role


The Company is seeking a Vice President, Communications to play a pivotal role in its mission to solve humanity's greatest challenges. The successful candidate will be a senior, strategic leader with a proven track record in communications, particularly in the areas of earned media and external narrative. This role is essential for ensuring that the company's story, including its groundbreaking prize competitions, reaches the right audiences with the desired impact. The VP will be responsible for owning the global media strategy, cultivating relationships with top-tier journalists, and positioning the company's executives as authoritative voices. They will also lead the communication strategy across the full prize lifecycle, from pre-launch to impact storytelling, and will be instrumental in shaping the narrative that connects the company's scientific breakthroughs to philanthropic investment decisions.

Applicants must have at least 12 years of communications leadership experience, with a focus on translating complex scientific and technical subject matter into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. The role requires a candidate with established relationships in the media, particularly in the fields of science, technology, business, and philanthropy. The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism, science communication, or editorial leadership, and a passion for the company's mission. Experience in crisis communications, and reputation management, and a proven ability to build and lead a high-performing communications team are also essential. The VP will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer and the Vice President, Content, and will be expected to operate in a fast-paced environment, driving the company's visibility and impact through strategic and effective communication.
