About Edge of Elsewhere
Edge of Elsewhere is an indoor art and entertainment concept inviting visitors to explore themed environments and interact with installation elements. The mural will be on the exterior wall.

Project Overview
We are commissioning an original exterior mural surrounding the primary entrance to Edge of Elsewhere, located in Somerville, MA .

The main wall measures approximately 16 feet high × 14 feet wide , with an additional building return extending approximately 6 feet around the corner at a height of roughly 15 feet . The mural is expected to begin at ground level, extend above and to both sides of the entrance, continue onto the return, and incorporate the entrance door itself.

The artwork should transform the entrance into a bold and inviting visual portal. It should include subtle Edge of Elsewhere branding, while providing a very clear visual call to action that encourages visitors to enter through the door.

We are open to a range of visual approaches and interpretations. The final work should feel imaginative, immersive, memorable, and connected to the identity of Edge of Elsewhere without relying heavily on conventional signage or oversized branding.

Because the mural will be installed on an exterior, public-facing surface, all materials and finishes must be durable, weather-resistant, and appropriate for long-term outdoor use.

Budget
The total budget for this project is $10,000-$14,000 , inclusive of:

Artist fee

Design and revisions

Materials and supplies

Surface preparation, painting, and finishing

Weather-resistant coatings or sealants

Equipment required for installation, including lift or access equipment when necessary

Travel and other project-related expenses

Scope of Work

Initial concept and rough sketch aligned with the theme

One to two rounds of design refinement

On-site mural execution

Sealing and finishing for durability

Coordination with Midnight Mansion for on-site access, scheduling, and other constraints

Selection Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on:

Artistic quality and strength of visual voice

Ability to create a bold, welcoming, and immersive entrance

Thoughtful integration of the door and building architecture

Effectiveness of the visual call to action

Ability to incorporate branding in a subtle and intentional way

Quality of past mural or large-scale exterior work

Feasibility within the stated budget and timeline

Suitability of the proposed materials for an exterior public environment
