About This Opportunity
Schedule/Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday
This position is responsible for:
Planning, developing, coordinating, and overseeing communications and marketing efforts that increase awareness, engagement, and support for The Salvation Army's programs and services. This role strengthens internal and external communications, builds community partnerships, enhances public relations efforts, and develops compelling content across multiple media platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead branding, marketing, public relations, and social media initiatives for The Salvation Army's programs and services.
Develop and implement integrated communication strategies that ensure consistent messaging and increase community awareness and engagement.
Manage and maintain the Area Command's social media presence, creating relevant and engaging content across platforms.
Collaborate with department leaders and program staff to identify communication needs, goals, and promotional opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with community partners, corporate organizations, and local media outlets.
Write and distribute press releases, news stories, and other content that highlights the impact of The Salvation Army's services and programs.
Oversee and maintain the Area Command website and digital communication platforms.
Assists in planning and coordinating special events.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to speak before large groups in person or virtually.
Ability to travel to various locations to participate in public meetings, conferences, or events.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather, noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
Occasional disaster site and mission field visits where extreme conditions could be experienced may be required.

Qualifications
What We Are Looking For In You
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Communications or a related field is required, and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience administering a variety of internal and external communications functions for a large organization.
Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Valid State Driver's License
