Writer, Breaking/Trending News - PM

JOB DESCRIPTIONFox News Digital is looking for an experienced Writer to join our team. You love breaking news and thrive working in a fast-paced environment. You have experience in journalism with an eye for breaking and compelling news to serve our audience. You “live and breathe” news, consuming content from a wide variety of sources. You are able to write and produce several stories efficiently on a daily basis, mainly covering breaking news along with news of the day/trending news and some original reporting.You will be offered one of the following shifts:Sunday-Thursday; 2:00 PM, ET - 10:00 PM, ETA SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESCover breaking news events, writing quickly and precisely to help solidify Fox News as the go-to site for breaking newsPitch and cover stories that resonate with Fox News Digital's audience, aggregating with complete and proper attributionPursue original and exclusive stories through close contact with sourcesPresent all stories, original, breaking, and aggregated, in an accessible, consistent, and compelling styleCollaborate closely with editors and fellow writers/reportersObtain and edit the most compelling video and pictures for each storyWHAT YOU WILL NEEDBachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experienceExperience covering the news and newsroom experienceAn intense interest in news across verticals, including U.S., World, Politics, Business and moreKnowledge of AP style is vital, as is a clear and crisp writing stylePossess a firm grasp of current events and a desire to be precise, quick, and accurate in presenting the news to the vast Fox News Digital audienceAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment and work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environmentAbility to be flexible and work on some holidays as needed; possess an “on-call” mentality and be prepared to work under emergency or breaking news conditionsAbility to travel for breaking news storiesKnow-how in developing SEO-focused contentPhotoShop and knowledge of video (iPhone) editing skills preferredAbility to leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM) to accelerate research, fact-gathering, and story framing in a fast-moving news cycle.We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
