Communications Manager
The Communications Manager is responsible for engaging audiences of The Center for Family Support across all communications channels. In collaboration with Development, Human Resources, Program, and Executive Teams, create content to communicate CFS' mission, values, priorities, programs, employment opportunities, activities, and initiatives.
The Communications Manager will create messaging and materials for all CFS target audiences, including program participants and their families; care managers, support coordinators, and families looking for support; CFS staff; employment candidates; donors, vendors, and Board members; and government, funding and community partners. The content and messages created will position CFS as a leading I/DD organization that is person-centered; advocacy oriented; innovation and technology leaders; collaborative; staff development focused; and thought leaders in the I/DD field.

Responsibilities
Strategic communications planning
Develops and executes multi-channel communication strategies that elevate CFS' mission, strengthen brand identity, and engage diverse audiences including participants, families, staff, donors, and community partners.
Multi-platform content development
Creates compelling written, visual, and video content for WordPress websites, Constant Contact email campaigns, social media platforms, and internal communication channels to ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging.
Storytelling and narrative building
Translates program impact, participant experiences, and staff achievements into authentic stories that highlight CFS' person-centered values, innovation, and leadership in the I/DD field.
Brand management and visual identity
Maintains and strengthens CFS' brand across all materials; develops templates, style guides, and CFSNJ-specific branding to ensure cohesive, professional, and accessible communication.
Digital media and video production
Produces and edits video content featuring participants, staff, and community partners; leverages multimedia to enhance engagement and expand CFS' digital presence.
Website and email marketing proficiency
Manages WordPress site updates, optimizes user experience, and builds targeted Constant Contact email campaigns that support recruitment, fundraising, and organizational visibility.
Social media strategy and analytics
Plans, schedules, and analyzes social media content; uses data insights to increase reach, engagement, and audience growth across platforms.
Internal communications leadership
Designs and distributes clear, timely internal messaging, including newsletters and staff updates; strengthens organizational culture and reinforces mission and values.
Cross-departmental collaboration
Partners with Development, HR, Program, and Executive Teams to gather information, align messaging, support recruitment, and advance organizational initiatives.
Community and stakeholder engagement
Cultivates relationships with donors, vendors, government partners, and community organizations; highlights partnerships and supports stewardship efforts through strategic communication.
Project and editorial calendar management
Oversees timelines for campaigns, newsletters, events, and publications; ensures consistent content flow and timely delivery of communication materials.
Print and collateral development
Designs and produces brochures, flyers, reports, and event materials that support program needs, recruitment efforts, and fundraising initiatives.
Understanding of the I/DD landscape
Applies knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities, person-centered practices, and sector-specific terminology to ensure accurate, respectful, and empowering communication.
Technical proficiency in communication tools
Demonstrates strong command of Microsoft Office 365, graphic design tools, video editing software, and digital communication platforms to produce high-quality content.
Relationship building and interpersonal communication
Engages staff, participants, and families with empathy and professionalism; builds trust and fosters open communication across the organization.
Independent initiative and problem solving
Operates as a self-starter who anticipates needs, manages competing priorities, and adapts to evolving organizational goals with sound judgment.
Organizational excellence and follow-through
Maintains strong attention to detail, meets deadlines, and ensures high-quality execution of all communication projects.

Upholds ethical standards, protects sensitive information, and represents CFS with professionalism in all internal and external communications.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.
4+ years of experience in communications and marketing.
Knowledge and experience with the intellectual and developmental disabilities or related field preferred.
Experience with video editing, website maintenance, graphic design, social media, and email marketing.

Pay Range
USD $70,000.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.
