Technical Applications Territory Engineer – Industrial Water Systems
Base salary: $75,000 to $125,000 with uncapped commissions and comprehensive corporate benefits. Direct hire position located in Rochester, MN, serving the Southeast Minnesota territory. Must be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident; corporate visa sponsorship not available.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute territory strategy, balancing 80% new business acquisition with 20% elite account maintenance across Southeast Minnesota.
Serve as the primary technical consultant and territory manager for clients managing high/low‑pressure water systems and manufacturing processes.
Provide deep technical support and consultative engineering assessments for facility managers and plant engineers.
Analyze industrial water chemistry, flow requirements, and process constraints to design custom automated water treatment solutions.
Partner directly with facility managers and plant engineers to plan mechanical system upgrades, fluid control designs, and chemical treatment plans.
Manage the entire mid‑market and enterprise sales cycle—from technical prospecting and capital system presentations to contract closing and long‑term retention.
Travel daily throughout the assigned territory, logging up to 3+ hours of driving to ensure consistent, face‑to‑face customer engineering reviews.
Collaborate with internal engineering staff to share market insights and optimize custom field performance.
Qualifications
Education core: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental preferred).
Business‑to‑business experience: 3+ years of verified success managing technical sales cycles in heavy industrial, mechanical, or automated utility manufacturing markets.
Domain expertise: Direct familiarity with industrial water treatment, water chemistry, boiler/cooling tower operations, fluid mechanics, or process control infrastructure.
Commercial track record: Proven, verifiable history of meeting or exceeding aggressive capital equipment sales goals.
Analytical drive: Technical literacy in tracing client process constraints, reviewing fluid dynamics, and translating chemistry data into automated machinery specifications.
Road warrior discipline: Ability and willingness to manage a large geographic footprint, maintaining high structural organization and efficient driving routes.
