A 340+ bed regional medical center in Overland Park is seeking an experienced Director of Women’s Services to lead its women’s and children’s service line. This hospital includes a Level III NICU, Maternal Fetal Health Center, antepartum unit, labor and delivery services, and a Level II Trauma Center with accredited stroke and chest pain programs, supporting approximately 3,500 births annually.

Position Overview
The Director of Women’s Services provides 24-hour leadership and operational oversight for all assigned women’s health units. Reporting to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, this role is responsible for guiding clinical practice, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes, and maintaining efficient, fiscally responsible operations across a high-acuity maternal and neonatal service line.

This position works closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to support safe, coordinated, and patient-centered care while driving performance improvement and long-term service line strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Provide executive-level leadership for women’s and children’s services

Oversee operations across labor and delivery, antepartum, NICU, and maternal health units

Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, high-quality patient care

Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes

Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation for assigned service lines

Lead quality improvement and performance initiatives

Support recruitment, retention, and professional development of nursing staff

Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and clinical excellence

Drive operational efficiency within a high-volume birth center environment

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of recent leadership experience as a manager or director in Women’s Services (within the last year)

Experience in a high-acuity facility with at least 3,500 annual births required

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Current Registered Nurse license in applicable state(s) or active compact RN license required

Ability to obtain and maintain BCLS certification required

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Specialty certification preferred
