The Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission is searching for a dynamic leader to serve as their Parks and Recreation Director. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about their vision:

Oakland Township, a community located in northeast Oakland County, has an abundance of spectacular natural beauty and a land preservation orientation. Residents’ support for the Township’s Parks, Recreation, and Land Preservation work is demonstrated by the two dedicated millages which fund this position.
Position Summary
The Parks and Recreation Director, as the administrative head of Oakland Township Parks and Recreation, assures implementation of the Parks and Recreation Commission’s plans, policies, and decisions. As the leader of Parks and Recreation staff, this position directs parks planning, land acquisition, capital improvement, maintenance, operations, natural areas stewardship, and recreation programming activities. This position is responsible for the development and management of two budgets, including leveraging supplemental funding. As the primary Parks and Recreation contact, the Director is responsible for community engagement and fostering pride in the Township’s exceptional parks, recreation, and natural areas offerings.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Parks And Recreation Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Natural Resource Management, Landscape Architecture or related field. Five or more years of related full-time experience as a parks and recreation professional including two years working at the administrative level, directly supervising employees and overseeing budgeting and expenditure control.
